Blood pouring out.... gotta assume Wolf backs up Vlad tomorrow night at a minimum.

I am not a doctor, nor do I work in the medical field, but that sounds like a broken finger to me. I read that Wolf was summoned from Vegas where the Wranglers were to play and is flying back to Calgary. Expect Vladar to start but wouldn't mind seeing Wolf tomorrow night.

Was thinking this as well. Vladar played too well to not start next one.

Hopefully, Wolf can come in and cement an NHL spot. He's kind of having a down year this year. Maybe just boredom.

Or it could be the fact that the FLAMES keep calling up D?

I think he would be a good fit in either Boston or Washington.

Hopefully Wolf can get some games in and make it known he's ready. It is frustrating watching Markstrom still at time first shot on net early on and 1-0. Pretty deflating for teammates and if that didn't Flames would've beat the Canucks. I hate them more then the Oilers.

Not sure, he’d be on the team if Bob Johnston was coaching.

I said last year when watching him in the playoffs, with the tight checking and physical play, he was very much a non factor. Lots of smaller guys still carve out a good career in the minors or Europe.

Be nice if we could trade Marky to Buffalo or New Jersey and recoup more picks or prospects. Run with Vladar and Wolf for the next 2 years. By then we’d have had a couple top 5 picks to spark the retool.

Markstrom has negative value with his sub 900 play and 6M contract. You'd have to pay to get someone to take him from you. Plus he has a NMC and Buffalo and Jersey already have 3 goalies each including their own versions of Wolf in Levi and Schmid.

You claimed on this page recently that you watch a fair bit of Flames hockey... not sure what you're watching as Marky has been excellent this year and would be an upgrade for several teams. 6M after the CAP goes up next year is by no means prohibitive for a #1 goalie.
The goaltending in both Buff and NJ has been terrible this year so who cares if they have 3 goalies if there not winning games (especially in NJ where the playoffs is an expectation after last years success).

Markstrom has a 6-8-2 record with a 896S%. He hasn't been winning them many games. Yes he has looked better this year than last, but the stats and record don't lie. He isn't much, if any of an upgrade on what those teams have. Especially considering the d-core the Flames have compared to Buffalo and Jersey.

Disagree.... without Marky the teams record in his starts would be far worse than 6-8-2

Have you compared the NJD defense to the CGY defense? NJD has a couple high end offensive dmen, possibly wingers on D. Flames supposedly had one of the top 5 d-corps entering the season. Put Schmid or Vanecek behind the Flames D and they should be better no?

Not saying the NJD d is bad, but it is fast forward offense intended. The Flames defense has been well constructed to be a solid 2 way... And as far as I can tell, they're not so great at keeping pucks out of their own net. 87 goals against so far, that's worse than the Oilers RN.

New Jersey Devils
Record: 12-10-1

What’s gone wrong: In sixth place in the Metropolitan Division, New Jersey has struggled in many departments with the exception of its league-leading 36.4 percent power play.

The Devils can’t keep the puck out of their net, surrendering goals against at the worst rate of all NHL teams besides San Jose. Bad goaltending has played the biggest role in that. After crumbling in the playoffs last spring, Vitek Vanecek has been the league’s worst starter this season according to Evolving-Hockey’s goals saved above expected model. His confidence looked completely shot in Tuesday’s game against the Canucks, where New Jersey blew a 5-2 lead in the third period before Jesper Bratt scored a sixth goal to squeak out a victory.

Flames PP is no where close to 36.4
NJ 85 goals for in 23 games, CGY 73 goals for in 25 games
How can you argue that putting Marky in the NJ net would not make them a much better team?

So Markstroms .005 better S% over Schmid is worth the $6m contract that has 2 years left and should cost the Devils assets? Devils would be looking for a significant upgrade at the cap hit, not taking on a possible upgrade for significant dollars plus assets. Markstrom has meh value RN, a NMC, and too big of a hit, and the flames can only carry so many coverages. If they want max value on the rest of their other chips they got to keep an open space that doesn't have 2 more years left.

This also doesn't take into respect that the Flames are supposed to have a superior defensive core. The Devils have an offensive minded D. The Flames supposedly have one of the best more rounded defensive cores.

Your strong outsider opinion originaly claimed Marky had negative value not MEH and thats what I am disagreeing with. The Devils have some CAP space to work with and using it to improve their goaltending is the best use of that space. Putting Marky in their net makes them much better and thats not really arguable!
