I think they may have to look into trading reichel. Totally invisible, again.

Well more likely than not, with AA and Hall probably out against the Panthers, Reichel will be on PP 1 and hopefully get off the snide.

I thought for the first several games of the year Murphy and Jones were playing better. But now I feel they have reverted to prior years level.

Vlasic, Korchinski, and Kaiser are NHL players and getting better. I don't think he is the best, but there is just something about Kaiser that appeals to me. It might be his compete level or feistiness. He makes some poor decisions now and then, but I think he is coachable and smart enough to learn from them. His battle in front of the net on the PK was pretty cool to watch.

Tab Bamford sure didn't like Jones' performance.

While I am not saying I disagree here, I think Tab Bamford might be the absolute worse "insider" in the game. Some of the most terrible takes, hes the Vosters of hockey insiders

Yeah, I was reading him for a little while, but he turned pretty ridiculous. I get Bedard is the main attraction, but it’s almost pure focus on him.

Mrazek PLayed great , and was easily the reason the hawks won

Yup, nothing at all to do with the five goals that were scored.

I agree with the over emphasis on Bedard. Every time he gets a goal he rushes to publish an article. But his game summaries are good.

I wouldn't exactly call him an insider. I'll reserve that title for the likes of Friedmann, Seravalli, Dreger, and Lebrun. He's just a hockey writer. I must have missed those terrible takes. Can you cite an example or two?

I thought he looked awful in the one game I saw him play in Rockford last year, and I never understood the optimism surrounding the kid. He has no trade value right now. Maybe added as a sweetener in a Mrazek deal, he helps the Hawks get a better return.

Well Jones played 32 minutes last night. That is a lot of time to criticize mistakes. I will admit that I saw some WTF moments from Jones last night,

But after that horrible defensive start in the first period, the Hawks locked it down pretty good in periods 2 and 3. Since Jones was on the ice for at least half the game, those WTF moments must have included some good play also.

Jones isn't the only overpaid defenseman in the league, there are quite a few, and it wouldn't matter how good or poorly he plays, but the fact he was traded for and signed a contract put in front of him by Bowman is going to make him the whipping boy from 6 more years after this.

This reminds me of when Seabrook became the villain /whipping boy because he was offered and signed a contract that became one of the worst in the league as his play was declining.

How in the heck was #5 even in that position to receive that pass at the opponent blue line….

I’m just a fan but pretty sure #5 was out of position since he plays DEFENSE…

Didn't he just come out of the penalty box?

Several good points there LA. I didn't realize he played 32 minutes.

Good that he is eating up the minutes on the 1st pair and against top opponents and helping to shelter some of the kids from performing that task. And yes he's bound to make mistakes during games and it's easy to point the finger at him when he does, mainly due to the contract he signed. We'll just have to go along with the ups and downs of his play for the next several years. Not looking forward to the last couple of years when his play will probably be more on the decline. That will hopefully be about the time the team becomes relevant again and in contention for a Cup.

I really can't disagree with him, there were a couple of plays on the PK where he engaged the guy in front of the net, the forward leaves the front of the net and he goes with him? Opens up a great shot for another Bolts player. It's like he forgot he was on the PK.

It's foolish to dismiss anyone who has a passion for hockey, writers tend to be assigned to a sport where as life long hockey fans know a hell of a lot more about the sport because they've put the time in and seen what works what doesn't and so on.

We all talk about trading Seth, but who is going to pick up all those minutes if that actually happened?

Korchinski only played 13:31 last night, especially low considering that they only had five defensemen playing for most of the game.

I’m not a big Jones fan, but the guy plays heavy minutes against the top lines every game. When you go up against the likes of Kusherov, Point, and Stamkos, who are all world class players and you play half the game, you are going to see some miscues. The problem with Jones is his contract, he’s overpaid by $2-3M. The Hawks need a dependable RD to play with Kaiser so they can have three decent pairs and spread out the minutes a bit more even.

I know he scored 4 points but i am really impressed with his defense. Again the kid is willing to block shots was in the middle of it when the Bolts scored the 3rd goal down low and so on. Loved him getting inside position on Hedman, Loved his little move when TB was pressing in the 3rd got possession skated it out got the Bolts sprinting back and turned around and just kept possession while our line was changing. Little things

Vlasic had a rough start but pulled it together, very good looking player,
Korchinski was kind of rough last night but Kaiser just seems to be getting better each game, he was noticeable in a good way last night.

Pretty wild to think Bedard in 12 games with minimal support has 7 goals, i think Jack Hughes had 7 goals his rookie year.

LBR over at Second City suggested that part of the reason for this last night was that he was matched up against the Cirelli line.

This is his sophomore campaign, so regression is to be expected. And it's usually the worst time to trade a slumping prospect. Let's see how he does when they play easier opposition.
