If people were already saying Devils have arguably the best top 6, with Holtz in the roster that makes us the best top 9. This is an incredibly skilled, deep roster if Mercer and Palat are on your third line.

And Ruff is (8) 50 win seasons from being No. 1 on Coach Win list. Currently 5th.

Can we please stop with the Lindy Ruff routine of not playing youth, even if it’s the most talented?
Miller, Smith, Etc….. garbage! You have the 2nd overall pick from 2 years ago. He played great in the AHL last year. Play him!!!
Miller is a nice 7th dman if the kids need a few games off.
PLEASE send Smith to the AHL for the entire season! I can’t handle watching him get beat routinely and then taking penalties.
All that said, the future starts now and the future is bright! LFGD

I understand your frustrations, but you can't argue with the team results. I hope Bahl gets the ice more than Smith. But smith is also our only D that will be willing to drop the gloves. Smith is very willing to stick up for any teammates. That poop means something, so I do expect him for the Rags matchups.

I don't know much about Miller or what he brings.

It's good to hear that holtz is faster and that should help and skating improved

I know he isn't a grinder or anything along the boards but from what I saw last season was he was very weak along the boards so hopefully that's improved too, not expecting him to be great on the boards but just someone who doesn't always lose the puck on the boards

Throwing this out here again-

Looking for some *active* managers to join my primarily hockeybuzz-based yahoo league. 20 teams and large rosters, so the draft is a 2.5 hour experience. No keepers, no money.
Stats include hits/blocks, among the usual.

Draft is this Friday, Sep 29th, 8:00pm EDT

I only sent invites out to last year's managers 5 days ago, but there's currently 11 teams that haven't responded yet. We usually have a couple open spots, so I figured I'd throw this out there now, since the draft is in 9 days. Message me if you're interested.

Luke Hughes is paired with Marino

Like that pairing, our most stable dman with a rookie offensive dman

Nemec being paired with Witherspoon his d partner from Utica, obviously early days but I wonder if Fitz and Co think more time in the AHL may be best

Yes, its what the team has essentially been saying the entire time. So it shouldn't be a shock. The expectation has always been that he would need to be absolutely lights out in camp/preseason to have a shot at making the team or else he'd be spending another year in the AHL, since his contract slides. Fitz has constantly brought up over and over again how they arent going to rush him, and never mentioned Nemecs name in regards to what young defenseman he expects to replace Sevo and Graves when asked about it. Ruff also flat out said he's leery of having two rookie defenseman in the lineup.

As was said at the time, the trade for Miller solidified Nemec being in the AHL, and i wouldnt be shocked if he wasnt even the first D called up. Unless an injury to Dougie occurs and we need offense, i'd be expecting Foote to be called up before Nemec.
