How is it possible to have the wrong take EVERY time? Admirable, in a way.

The guy just couldn't get out of his own way, clearly he crossed the line somewhere and was about to face the consequences from it. Stepping down was a way of just trying to save some personal face to the public before his actual termination. Obviously there's more to it than just sharing photos. |

Doesn't seem like a "wokeness" issue. If my boss asked to look through my phone or anyone for that matter the answer is no. Just curious, would you be OK with that? Now if it truly was benign and he wanted to get to know me, why not go for a coffee, lunch or dinner? You know...normal ways like having a (frank)ing conversation. So this is now soft or to use your stupid word "beta"? (frank) that. You had better have a warrant or some sort of process in writing. Period end. |

Greg Wyshynski, ESPN
"A source told ESPN the Blue Jackets welcomed the NHLPA investigation to determine whether there was any wrongdoing by Babcock.
Walsh had a previously planned meeting at the NHL headquarters in New York City on Friday morning. Whatever the previous agenda was, it was overwritten by the Babcock news. The NHLPA laid out what it learned by interviewing players.
According to a source with knowledge of the NHLPA, it became clear that veteran players like Jenner were having a much different experience with Babcock than young players were having." |

What can I say or can be said, Kekalainen probably doesn't deserve the blame as much as the media wants his head. This looked like a group decision, they consulted with Nash and Ken Hitchcock (go figure) on the matter and they gave their stamps of approval. If Jarmo is to get canned, he will quickly find employment, he did manage to build up an impressive stock of prospects and once again the CBJ could be going into this season with one of the youngest rosters.
That being said, really glad for Pascal Vincent, I've followed his career since his days with the Screaming Eagles in the Q . He's been considered a candidate by numerous teams since he coached the Jets farm team. What sucks is the specter of this entire Babcock ordeal will be looming over him and the Jackets for the entire season.

I know that when my boss demands I hand over my phone so he can look through my private info I'm totally fine with it.

Columbus seems to have a thing for edgy head coaches; but while Torts is intense and entertaining, I think Babs is legit a bit touched in the head.
On the plus side, this seem to now be all squared away before the season has started. They can move forward without it affecting the play on the ice.

It's good that he's out before he had a chance to completely sour the younger players on the organization. |

Heโs finished in the NHL. Why not just ask players to voluntarily submit 5 or 10 pictures at their own convenience. Why does he have to look through their phone? Iโm sorry, but not all players will have just โfamily picturesโ in their phone for him to view.

Are you that chubby glasses guy in that big woke meeting who yelled at everyone "p...p...p..point of personal privilege....can you PLEAAAASE tell people to stop clapping? because it triggers me."
If a new coach shows you his family pictures and things that are important to him, and asks you to do the same...in an effort to get to know one another better...you'd ask him for a warrant? REALLY? Babcock also invited several players to his home for dinner with his family too...would you ask him for a vetted background check before entering his property? References? (vaccination proof...hehe, I know you would do this one). Careful...there might be clapping, handshaking and maybe some laughter at that family dinner.
Ironically, your post is actually THE epitome of a "soft" "woke" "beta-male" reaction.
Show your coach a picture of your damned dog and your girlfriend, go to his house for dinner, and then lace up your f'n skates.
People like you are destroying not only sports, but society.

Taking your phone and scrolling through your camera roll is entirely different then going through your family photo album there bud. Take a second and think about it. Comprehension is difficult. Anyone who uses beta and alpha nonsense like that is more than likely a soft dweeb |

They had success with Torts, this hire just seemed like a copy past from a past blue print. The only non edgy coach they had success with would be Todd Richards.
I hope this is all put to rest once the season starts. |

CBJ's have some really nice young players, it's really good that he's gone before he messes with them. Fantilli is going to be a star. |

Context is important and juicy details are short.
On the surface, wanting to see photos on a phone is the modern version of showing photos in your wallet. Remember printed photos in little clear sleeves in the center of your wallet? Stone ages, but not a bad thing. Show me your family photos didn't used to be creepy or weird. A few players were probably OK with it and a few probably weren't. We don't know the solid details here.
What pictures did he see without permission? What exact photos did he throw up on the big screen for everyone in the room to see? Who was in the room? What was everyone else's reactions?
We don't F-ing know. So, we fill in the details ourselves with speculation.
Babs is a douche. That much is well established.
I would have gotten wind of his phone game and filled a burner phone with pics of my hairy balls. Hand that to him and watch what he does. |
