If we see Kinkaid at the NHL level then things have gone horribly wrong and this team will be on lottery watch. It'll probably take 3 or 4 injuries to get him up here, and I imagine if it got to that point the team would have already tried and failed multiple trade attempts before needing to call him up.

In terms of the prospects challenge, forward-wise I'll be keeping my eyes on Clarke, Parent, Brown, Filmon, Squires, and Halonen(i wouldnt be surprised if hes a callup at some point this year if we have injuries in the bottom 6/4th line and need a depth guy). Defensively obviously we'll all be interested in how Luke and Nemec do, but Vilen, Hatakka, and Misyul will be the guys ill be paying attention to. Nothing interesting in the goalie battle here imo, sucks that Daws is hurt.

Thank you for removing that nonsensical post. Hopefully we won't see those any more.

Honestly thought Kinkaid was older and already retired, but I guess a good depth move. Do hope he never steps foot on NHL ice (as the prior post stated) or we're in trouble.

The Av's got a bargain with Tatar. He should give them good secondary scoring. At that price, maybe we should have kept him for another year? But then who sits? Wish him well

Thanks for all you do Josh!

Luke Hughes will not be playing in the prospects challenge, per the team. Allowing him to focus on main camp.

Can someone refresh my memory on the Kovy saga - seems so long ago I forgot all the details...

Why are we still paying him if he walked out on us?

This article lays it out pretty well. It’s the $3M fine ($3M over his remaining 12 yrs is $250k/yr.) I don’t think it goes to Kovy.

https://syndication.bleac...ill-move-forward.amp.html

So put all together, the Devils invested: Johnny Oduya, Niclas Bergfors, Patrice Cormier, a second-round pick, two first-round picks, a third-round pick, a $3 million fine, $23 million in salary and a large fight with Gary Bettman and the NHL which eventually caused rule changes to be made in the CBA.

That’s a lot for one player.

Ugh thats so depressing and disgusting...

So here is another question and Im not sure if there was an answer for it...
The Kovy deal that we got fined for... Werent a bunch of teams handing out contracts like that?

Yes, especially the Ricky DiPietro contract wasn’t far off from Kovy’s deal. I get that someone has to be made an example and no one wants to be the one picked.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the NHL has nothing to say about all these teams abusing tf out of “the spirit of the CBA” with the playoff loophole. Spending $10-$20 million over the salary cap to buy a Stanley Cup. All of a sudden violating the spirit of the CBA is no problem. That’s horsepoop

Colorado is probably going to do that with their Captain.

That’s because the league doesn’t care about us and plays favorites with whichever team generates the most viewers.

Example: Bedard to The Blackhawks

Bedard to Chicago wasn’t that egregious to me. They had the 3rd highest chance to win that lotto, not unrealistic to win. Not like the (frank)ing Rangers winning 1st overall in 2020 from 12th place! 🙄
