Devils and Jets Re-engage on Connor Hellebuyck There is little doubt the Devils cherish this player…Would Connor Hellebuyck make the Devil THE facvorite in the east? Quite possibly.

Fitzy is clearly coveting a proven goalie. And Helly is the best available. But I can't see a $9 mil contract with term fitting into the cap plans. So, how much are you gonna give for a rental? I do like the idea of renting him for the season, as opposed to poaching him at the deadline, or, god forbid, if our tending goes all pear shaped at the beginning of the season. As long as price is picks and/or a player(dependant of course...), you have to really think about it.

multiple GM's have said over the years they have had conversations with other GM's on a potential deal for over a year sometimes before they get done. So no, this isn't necessarily click bait, or "it would've been done by now" I absolutely believe these teams are talking but not willing to accept the others offer, very simple.

I also think its entirely possible Helle would sign for much less than 9 per, one person said that was the ask, one!! where Helle has said multiple times he wants to go to a contender. so a 4-5 year deal in the 7-8 range is where i see his next deal.

Given the current cap limit, I would not invest $8M on any goalie when a $5-6M goalie is sufficient to win a cup

how's that worked for Toronto and Edmonton?

Tkachuk had a great playoff but make no mistake Florida got to the cup on Bob's back, just as the Habs did a few years ago on the back of Price or how Vegas did in 2017 with Fleury. I also think Vas had a lot to do with Tampa winning a couple cups.

look, it takes the best overall team peaking at the right time and getting great goaltending to win the cup, can that happen with a lower cost goalie, of course, it just did with Vegas BUT your best chance is with a great goalie.

Gotta love Devils fans. I guess they think they would of still won the Cups in 1995 and 2000 with Chris Terreri and in 2003 with Corey Schwab instead of that other guy who is in the HOF and did not come cheap.

Yes, you named 3 high priced cup winning goalies. Here's 5 low cost options because I'm too lazy to look further>Crawford, Niemi, Kemper, Binnington, Grubauer

I just don't think Winnipeg has accepted the fact that they need to rebuild and are probably asking for NHL ready players in return on this trade. The devils only want to give up picks and futures as they are trying to win now so if thats the case I don't see this trade working out.

Send Jets one of the Devils goalies and futures....Maybe Scheifele bets them back NHL ready players.
