Calgary enters the Nylander Sweeps...Hanifin?
The Flames are on the verge of something big. That is what I keep hearing and it's escalating... The latest name possibly coming to town is Willy Nylander...Hanifin would be the center piece coming back |

No! Not true.Nylander is not the type of player iginla and conroy are looking for. Plus the guy wants 10+ mill a year he 100% isn’t worth that!! I would say 8 for 8. And doesn’t hanifin want to go to an American team? |

Nylander was born in Calgary. So that already starts at an E4. |

It’s the obvious trade rumour, Willie Ny for Hanifin. Leafs could use a solid D man. Trouble is, it’s tough shipping out a high flying scoring winger for a boring D man. I’m sure Flames fans would love this! |

Hell no !!! He’s not worth what he’s asking |

Wouldnt exactly call Hanafin a boring D man, 6'3" 208lbs, 38 points last year & 48 point the year before & he didnt even get the #1 pp time. If polled Flame fans & we could get another long term deal from him in that $6.5-$7.0 mill per range no one would complain. If Nylander was so vital then give him his money.
Personally, straight up trade, no extensions, no bs, just a hockey trade & let the respective GMS convince the respective players to extend during the year.
I would be ok with this, Leafs gain 2.0 mill in cap space & Flames add another Swede to help Lindholm decide to extend with the Flames. Unless Tre wants Vladar too, then perhaps Leafs add a pick. |

Straight up would be a fair deal, didn’t realize the Hanifin numbers. That’s said I’d be all for giving Willie 9.5x8, and shipping Marner out for a boat load but that’s not the path they are choosing. Willie is soft and the Flames have enough toughness, that a soft player can fit in. Not the case with the Leafs. I think it’s a fair trade.

Well I’m not too familiar with Hanafin but if he is like you say, a top 4D, then yeah it would have to be Hanafin +, Willie Ny is worth more than a top 4D. |

Willy is a hell of a player, but Calgary needs to figure out what is happening with Lindholm and Backlund before they go signing another soft winger to an overpriced contract.

That's all the Flames need is another 10M player on the roster next to Huberblow. |

My sources are telling me the trade is Tanev (1.5 million retained) and Vladar for Willy.
Leafs get their top 4 RD, a proven #2 goalie and 1.7 million in CAP savings they desperately need.
Flames get a top 6 RW and replace Vladar with Wolf allowing them to take on only $113,000 against their CAP in this deal. |

Dont be too quick to hard pass. Nylander may like coming over to team Sweden in Calgary lol. If Lindholm says he'll extend if we bring in Nylander & they both get matching 8 year 9.0 mill deals, that may be in play. With EK going to Pitt, the arms race just started early out East. Teams are going to focus on Hanafin now. Including Leafs & I can see Hanni fitting really well on that Leaf backend. Treliving is quite the salesman & I could easily see him convincing him to extend there given their previous history/relationship. But yes if Lindholm doesnt extend & i dont see the point in bringing Nylander in.

It’s very hard to trade a 40 goal scorer and not lose the trade…at least on paper. So If the Leafs are trading Willy it has to be for a team need/piece of the puzzle etc etc. the following make sense to me
1. For Tanev. Leafs need someone like him on the top D pair opposite Reilly for the playoffs (if healthy). Calgary would have to add more but the more has to make sense for both sides. The leafs don’t want cap coming back and wouks rather picks and prospects that can be flipped to replace the lost firepower
2. For Pesce. Better than Tanev so I can see this being one for one trade. But would the Leafs want to trade Willy in conference? Also Carolina/Waddel seldom loses a trade so…
3. For Hanafin. Really good defender and would love him on the Leafs but…he’s left D and so is Reilly. Also if he is bent on playing for an American team then why would you trade Willy if you’re the Leafs? Might as well stick with WN and let him walk in the summer…better the devil you know.

How is Vladar a proven anything? Maybe he’s a better backup than Woll, maybe he’s not, but he’s definitely not worth paying three times as much right now. |

Ek I understand you are only reporting what your sources are telling you
but you went from San Jose likes Toronto's offer for Karlsson but Nylander needs to move
EK65 gets dealt and now Nylander to Calgary?
I think there's a 99.8% chance William Nylander is in the starting lineup when the Leafs play Montreal |

yeah 1st line wingers that can score 40 goals and also 80 points consistently are so easy to find |

If Willy is going to Calgary it should be him, Brodie, and Robertson or Voit for Hanifan, Mangipone and Zadorov with neither team holding any money?
My sentimental favourite would be Kadri and Hanifan instead. |
