This is not a shocker..... eventually the Devils will pay the price to get a #1 goalie. |

The Devils window of cup contention is open. If you get 4 great yrs out of Helly, thats potentially 4 cups. No point on waiting for Schmid to turn into a No. 1. And VV playoff performance is proof he played over his head during the season.
The Devils are stacked up front, and within 2 yrs wit Luke and Nemec hitting their stride will have an amazing D.
Oh and if Holtz turns into that 40 goal sniper...
They might as well go all in now. |

So who exactly are you trading for him if you are keeping all the prospects 😂

Don't be so gloomy. If the Devils can't acquire Hellebuyck...then the Penguins will sign Yamamoto. |

If he wants 9.5M per that a steep price to pay. 8M x 5Y is likely to get it done. |

Fitzgerald gets it ! You need a certain caliber of goalie to win a cup (unlike grandpa Holland) . I think Fitz is trying to play Chevy like he did Grier in the Meier deal. Chevy isn’t without experience, I think he gets a late 1st Holtz and Bahl and If Holtz even come close to his draft position in NHL success it’s a fair trade. |

1. I am not trading anyone.
2. Devils have a bunch of high quality prospects in the system.
3. Helly wants out of the Winnipeg, so Jets are actually going to have to accept what NJ or another team offers or keep him and lose him for nothing. |

TERRIBLE trade for NJ - jtylerm
That’s what it will take, though. I get that everyone thinks their own prospects are the best, but there’s no guarantee Holtz or Bahl will pan out. Helly gives NJ a chance to compete. Guys of that caliber don’t come cheaply |

This is great news for the Sabres as they're now frontrunners for him now that we can officially eliminate the devils |

We don’t need him bad enough to make a dumb ass trade like that. Let another team be dumb enough to do it.
Wait til the trade deadline to reevaluate the market and team needs. Also there’s been more Cup wins over the last 7-8 years with mediocre goalies than a Vasilevsky level guy.
It’s unlikely Hellebuyck will be the only chance to improve in net before the playoffs. |

Why pay so much for Helle when you can likely get Ullmark (if BOS would trade him to NJ) or Saros for around the same price, at a cheaper contract and they are younger?
Alternatively, for cheaper trade price take a shot first at a Gibson/Markstrom/Demko (for Vanecek?) and if they turn it around and play as we have seen them do in the past, great, if not then include them in a deal to upgrade... |

Impressive list of NJ goalie targets - Helle, Ullmark, Saros, Gibson, Markstrom, Demko.
You are forgetting an important one. A rumour that is already well established as an E4...NJ is having active discussions about Jack Campbell, and also happens to be the home of Campbell Soup. E4! |

I don't believe this to be entirely accurate when you look at 5 of the last 6 goalies to win a cup. Vasilevsky is the 1 out of 6 that is the exception, otherwise it's Matt Murray, Braydon Holtby, Jordan Binnington, Darcy Kuempfer, and Aiden Hill. Would anyone choose those goalies, as a contender, now? Even 2-3 years ago. Team defense and special teams play wins cups. |

anyone else just want somebody..anybody to sign Hellebuyck and Karlsson so this can end? |

I can’t refute what you’re saying. There are differences though the Blues and the Knights were heavy teams with big defenses that banged anything that moved , both goalies played out of their minds. Having confidence in their goalies helped both teams to championships.. Kuemper was a Great 1year pickup for the Aves and did exactly what they needed him to do. Nashville is not trading Soros and Gibson is toast. Obviously it takes team defense and special teams to win a championship but it really takes team chemistry, confidence and LUCK. |

Thats a big haul given the other trades we've seen this summer.

Shocker, Friedman already saying the opposite of Ek. Saying it wouldn't be a huge shock if Hellebuyck starts the season in Winnipeg. So of course, contrary to Eks report, nobody is "closing in" on him. |
