Swayman is better than DeSmith and Jarry. Why would Boston trade him when Ullmark (who is 5 years older) is a UFA in 2 years? Someone will need to overpay for Swayman. It's much more likely that the Bruins keep Swayman and maybe move Ullmark as a UFA rental in 2 seasons, especially if their window to win diminishes with the departure of Bergeron, Krejci, and the ageing of Marchand.

But I'll play along. Penguins acquire Swayman. I'll even pretend that DeSmith goes the other way. So now Penguins have:

Swayman
Nedeljkovic
Jarry (IR)

So when Jarry comes off IR, I guess Nedeljkovic gets waived. So now Pittsburgh runs with Swayman-Jarry for the next 5 years? That's a lot of money locked up in goalies because it won't be long before Swayman is also making $5M+. Jarry was just given an NTC so he isn't going anywhere.

Like this rumour makes zero sense. These discussions aren't happening. Dubas could have let Jarry walk and signed another UFA goalie or acquired one via trade. He opted not to do that and signed Jarry to a $25M contract and NTC. Then he brough in Nedeljkovic to battle with DeSmith. That's it. Nothing else is happening. Sigh.

So, just a few days ago after personally meeting with Dubas at his home, Jarry signed a new 5-year contract, and said he's 100% healthy now, and his health won't be an issue going forward. On top of that, the Penguins just recently signed goalies Magnus Hellberg and Alex Nedeljkovic to compliment Jarry and DeSmith and give them more netminder depth, but they now are changing their minds and direction all together and after the fact, and want to pursue Swayman now because they are "suddenly" concerned about Jarry having hip issues?

You think they'd have maybe thought of that 2 weeks ago before locking him up for 5-years to the tune of $5.4 million per and a M-NTC. So, did Jarry fall and hurt his hip walking to the car yesterday?

Jarry's been in the penguins org his whole professional career. He has been under their microscope forever. If he was healthy last year, they would at least make the playoffs even if they lost in round 1. All last year they wanted to know if he was okay to play and the doctors/team were closely examining his hip.

To sign him for 5 years means at least the Penguins believe he's healthy. Unless he just ruined in this week, they're done.
