San Jose wants Bouchard included in a deal for Karlsson (e4)
The Oilers aren’t budging on that ask…per a source… Should they? |
|
|
|
Hell yeah!
…Then trade RNH for Hoffman.
…Then grab some popcorn and watch what happens next |

Oilers should fire Woodcroft hire Quenneville. Then pay to dump Campbell, then make a deal for Hellebuyck. Use the 1 year deal with Helly to try to win a cup. Running out of time with the studs. |

Quenneville has to be cleared by the NHL, before he can be a coach again. |

SJ is just waiting for someone to budge with ridiculous these ridiculous asks for someone to take on an 11.5mm player. Seems like there are no GM's left dumb enough to do so.....yet. I'm still sticking with him wearing a Sharks jersey come October. |

Sharks will be retaining $3.5-$4 million per year of Karlson's contract. |

You think retaining $3.5-$4 million per year will make Karlson learn how to play defense? |

Despite the "defenseman" title, that's not his job. He's paid to QB the offense and break the puck out to the scorers. And he's still the best in the league at that from the back end.7.5M to 8M is good value for those skills.
That said, Bouchard is already a better all-around defenseman and will continue to improve, while Karlsson will decline. There's no way he should be part of the deal. |

I kind of agree with everything you said. Karlsson sucks as a dman but that’s not why people like him. Bouchard looks to be good |

Who actually knows what SJ is willing to retain? But the fact of the matter is, he's crazy expensive, SJ wants too much in return, the cap has barely moved in years and he'll only agree to go to a contender. Mind you, the 'contenders' are all up against the cap already. It's a poker game and nobody wants to budge. So again, my bet is that he's still a Shark in October.

He can say it all he wants. He’s still young and has plenty of time but let’s string a few full seasons together first. |

This must be why Pitt wants him so bad. They have not had a decent PP QB since Gonchar.

He's strung 4 seasons together and he's over a point per game (1.03) for his career. Karlsson is not (.827). When he gets 4 more points to get to 250 and qualifies for most all-time leader lists he'll be third among defensemen in PPG in the history of the NHL (behind Orr and Coffey) and one of only 3 defensemen in the history of the NHL to be over a point per game.
He already qualifies for playoff PPG leaders and he's second in the history of the league behind Orr.
If Cale Makar suddenly, miraculously became available for trade the GM's pursuing Karlsson would forget he even existed. If a GM had a chance to swap Karlsson for Makar 32 out of 32 would do it. |

Seasons of 57,44, 77 and 60 games are not full seasons. Otherwise you’re right, that’s my only criticism.

San Jose should keep him for entertainment value.
it's unfortunate that a 3 time norris winner (should be 4) has largely been un-seen by most of the hockey fans that would normally appreciate his abilities. He toiled in relative obscurity in Ottawa and then again in San Jose. If you think he's not a warrior in the playoffs then ask the Penguins. He basically carried the Sens on one foot to within a game of the stanley cup final.
I'm not a stats guy but one of the reasons he's so effective is because he always has the puck on his stick. And not like Barzal who can't seem to to do anything with it. His age, achilies and foot issues make him even less effective in his own end as a defender but he rarely is in his own end. And this past season should show everyone he still has it. Additionally he's a swede and a fitness nut like Alfredson who taught him how to prepare. Swedes age well. They're freaks of Viking nature.
I would do Chabbot for Karlsson in a heartbeat and eat the extra money. |

Doesn't Makar make less than Karlson? Isn't Makar like 50 years younger as well? Doesn't Makar have a cup? Gimme Makar 100 times out of 10 |

Exactly! EK is soft and old. Another 4 years at that outrageous salary is laughable. The Norris trophy is for best D man, and Karlson sucks at that so I don’t get it! Bobby Orr, whom I watched play for years, was an excellent dman AND got the points. |
