I guess we should expect a Sanheim rumor to be a weekly posting on this site...lol.

The Edmonton defense is a weakness but adding Sanheim would do nothing to improve it.

Impossible, look at the ugly contract for the flyer franchise Chuck gift 🎁 wrapped to him.

So Flyers sign Sanheim to an 8 year extension. But before it even kicks in, they ask him to waive his NTC and go to Edmonton, who themselves have $0 in cap space. But miraculously, they find a way to fit in Sanheim's $50M contract. Makes sense!

Edmonton is a team I could see needing Hart, Laughton and Sanheim. If they have no draft picks what would you even be able to get for them?

Drew Carey said, “Welcome to Whose Line Is It Anyway, where everything is made up and the points don’t matter.” Here it’s, “Welcome to Hockeybuzz where everything is made up and the money doesn’t matter.”

The old GM who gave out NTC's and NMC's like candy at Halloween signed him. The current GM did not.

OK. It still makes no sense. Let's say the new GM wants to get rid of Sanheim. He still needs Sanheim to waive his NTC. And the Oilers have to magically find cap room, not just this year but moving forward for 7 more years. This isn't happening. Nobody is discussing this. There are quite a number of teams who are done making any major moves this offseason. The Oilers top that list.

At least the Calgary rumor made some sense. Not a lot of sense... but more than this.

You’re right this move isn’t happening but as far as waiving his NTC, Sanheim would very likely waive it to play for Edmonton. There’s probably other places he wouldn’t go but I doubt many players are passing up a chance to play with McDavid and Draisaitl. On the cap side of it, EDM has a little over $5.5m so would only need to move a low end roster player to clear the space.

The deal is doable logistically speaking.

Oilers still have to sign Bouchard and McLeod with that 5.5M. Sanheim ain't happening.

There may be teams who would take on that contract because it is 8 years and they would know they retain him. I would think Calgary or Winnipeg before Edmonton.
