Islanders and Leafs Discussing Nylander This from a GREAT source…The Isles have also had talks on Debrincat…

Don't see Toronto moving Nylander to the Isles without Dobson being included in the deal. If I'm Grandpa Lou, no way am I trading Dobson. Best offer I would make is Pageau, Wahlstrom, and two second round picks.

For it to work for the Isles, Toronto will have to retain 2-3 mil.

Isles don't have the assets to make it happen. I don't see them moving Dobson and, without him (and a lot more), there's not a chance in hell. Unless Treliving is smoking crack 24hrs a day

They had their chance at him in the draft and though Michael Dal Colle would be better

Lou isn’t afraid of handing out long term deals, so there could be something here

Dobson is the obvious guy. So maybe Dobson plus a pick and top prospect? Or, if the Isles would take on Murray, maybe the +++ isn’t as significant. But can’t see the Isles taking on another goalie

Best we can do is Cal Clutterbuck, a lottery-protected 3rd round pick in 2027, and the publishing rights to the Hey Josh Bailey song

Zero interest in Nylander. Guy disappears in the PO's like the majority of the Leafs players. Save for Bertuzzi, who just arrived.

Not even sure Wahlstrom would have a spot on this Leafs team. I’d rather take a 2nd or 3rd round pick

Can’t wait for this eventual development:

“Islanders don’t have anything to give up that would land Nylander. It’s gonna take Dobson, high end prospect and at least a first round pick.”

*Lou drags his feet

**Nylander moved to Vegas for an ECHL prospect, a 2026 3rd rounder, and 8 business cards for high end prostitutes

I agree that Dobson would have to be included but not a lot more. Nylander is on his last year. Other than that trade, I don't see a good fit for a trade.

Yeah I just don't think there's a match there. Dobson is really the only Isles defenseman capable of running a PP and putting up a respectable amount of offense. Not to mention I have absolutely no idea where they'd find $10M in cap room to fit in his next contract. I would assume(??) Pageau would be a part of the deal, but that still leaves a $5M gap with not a lot of relief coming next offseason.

Islander fan here who lives an hour from Toronto. Nylander was probably one of the best Leafs this playoff.

Yeah, I was just being a d-bag. I know he’s been productive in regular season and the playoffs. Not sure there’s a fit w the Leafs, but who knows.

the leaf's don't have to trade him now, he submitted his ten team they can still make a deal later in the year, he is still under contract till 2024. Contract year he will be playing hard and maybe just maybe back check

The best offer you can make is one of the worst offers around? That's impressive.

Maybe not him, but they’ll have to move someone. Murray is the most likely but…yuck. That’ll cost you a 1st
