Now its time to make the money work… Talking to various team people as they are traveling back to their home bases to get ready for Saturday, there is a lot of trade talk…Should get more info late tonight…This is the smallest period of time between the end of the draft and the opening of UFA Day I can ever remember…

I wonder what happened to the team who begged San Jose not to trade Karlsson at the deadline because they would have a way better offer at the draft?

I guess that fell apart. Rookie mistake by GM Mike Grier to fall for that.

So sharks are going to eat 5.75 for the duration of the contract to not have him on the team and they want a great haul for him. Grier, I would not want to be in your position right now. Who am I kidding. YEAH I WOULD!!!! If this trade ever takes place I want to see all of the moving pieces. More than likely a three team trade with Sharks and the 2nd team eating salary

There better not be a chance on earth that Grier eats more than $2.5mm unless it brings a significant haul. Adding Karlsson's salary to Burns and Jones would mean that you are paying the equivalent of Karlsson or at a minimum Burns to not play for you for the next 3 years...

Karlsson is not a 9 million dollar player and that’s with 2.5 being eaten by the sharks. At most he is maybe 7 mill. He does have some offensive upside. I’d see if he would transition to a winger at this point. He has never been even an average defenseman

Hrm... "Offensive upside"...? For the defenseman who just scored over a hundred points....c'mon man.

I think Karlsson is arguably worth around 9mil/season, but I think the stale salary cap is a major hindrance to anyone being willing to devote that much money to him.

Great offensive threat. Not a defenseman though. If you are trading for a defenseman than you want someone to be able to play that position. Yeah he won the Norris trophy years ago and was a minus player then. Put him on a wing and yeah sure he is worth the contract. Not as a defenseman

I get it I could have worded my statement correctly. He is highly offensive. Probably worth his contract, if he was a winger.
