I'm not happy to see Villardi go. That stings. I feel thr Jets got the better player. Seems to me to be a bit of an over payment. That 2nd rounder was Durzi trade I think. We knew they had to move out alot of money. I hope PLD won't be a locker room issue.

So Byfield or Kopitar has to be a 3rd liner now...for PLD? If I'm Winnipeg I'm wiping my hands of the whole affair.

Not happy either because Vilardi could be as good or better than PLD. The injuries though are concerning for Vilardi but if he stays healthy, I think he could be better. BUT, if Fiala plays on the line with PLD, that could be scary too.

Well Winnipeg traded down from having the 2nd overall pick (Laine) in 2016 to having the 3rd overall pick (PLD) in 2016 to the 11th overall pick (Villardi) in 2017. They just keep losing value.

Last year those 3 players and a pick don't get you PLD
Gabe scored 50% of his goals first 6 weeks of year. Rest of season was average.

That hot streak and glimpse of potential changed the dynamic.

That's a very strong third line. I do wonder if we'll see Arvidsson traded, however given the 4.5mm in cap space remaining. Figure we will have about 2.5mm locked up with Bjornfot, Clarke and Spence. JAD will sign for about 900k. That leaves about 1.1mm for a goalie and one more forward. We're at the point where the Mike Richards termination penalty money could really help!

No way anyone trades for Lizzotte. Only way a team will take him is if he was waived but I would bet he would clear waivers. Grundstrom though would be nice to trade him to get that 2024 2nd back if possible or even another 2nd for this year.

Essentially they traded Laine (and Roslovic) for Vlardi, Iafolo, Kumpari, 2nd round pick , and Daniel Zhilkin (30 pts in 35 games with Kitchener Rangers). I'm not sure that would be going backward.

Blake did say during his media availability yesterday that the team may just not carry an extra player (i.e. carry a roster of 22 instead of 23). I imagine that that's where having the AHL team right down the road might help.

Depending on health this could be a win for either team. Hope this gets the kings over the Edmonton hump next year.
