While there might be no discount. Ottawa's leverage here is thin. Ottawa will most likely not get what they paid for DeBrincat (last off-season), in return.

He already told them he will not sign long term. So he will not be staying. He won't be super sought after at the trade deadline due to his size. So if I'm Yzerman I'm thinking the most I would give up is pick #17. That's being nice, I could easily be patient and wait a year until free agency.
