Saros makes more sense with an extra year under contract. Then they still need an adequate backup and send CDS to the minors.

We trade for Saros and it will bring down a whole year of Bronco clogging this board with stuff about George Soros and how it’s disgusting we traded for his nephew

I don't believe that the Pens have what it takes to get Helly from the Jets.

He's signed for this season only, the return ain't gonna be that much more than like a 1st and a prospect.

You jets fans act like he’s a proven playoff performer or something. As the kids say Helly is mid.

If I could jettison one word in the lexicon into the sun, it would be “mid”.

I dunno "bet" is pretty stupid too, my wife's bro says it but she said that's an NYC thing and they used to say it up there when she was growing up all the time.

"Fire" in reference to things irks me a bit. "This burger is fire."

I’m fine with fire but it’s further down my list of of stupid things I say to describe cool things. I usually say raucous.

Bet sucks. I buy that it’s New York. Feel like most people I know who say that are from there or Philly. I also hate “finna”.

I really like Hellybuck and Saros but I thought Dubas made a rather insightful statement that he thinks that it is a 2 goalie league. I don't think he is going all in on any one player.

Varlomov is a guy I would target as a backup. He still looks like a solid goaltender and I feel like they could trust him to not blow it in the playoffs. As for a starter... who knows. I was big on Hill in a tandem but that was before the playoff run, he is going to get paid like a true #1.

I think Jack Campbell would be a completely different goalie on a team other than the Oilers. I'd try to pull a Campbell + picks/prospects for Granlund deal with them. Not without risk but I like the odds of a rebound. They can sign hometown Jarry to the big contract.

Honestly I’m not even going to pretend I have good ideas about who we should target. I feel like any given goalie can just as easily be elite as suck regardless of their previous track record. If some team signed Jeff Zatkoff off the street and went on a cup run with him next year, I wouldn’t be shocked.

Goaltenders are a dime a dozen They key is to find one who can stay healthy.
Jarry was deemed as a really good possibly great goalie but has problems staying healthy Adin Hill is a second rate goalie who is tending goal behind a team with depth and passion Somewhat like what Matt Murray did. Murray was nothing special and neither is Hill It is the team assembled in front of him. You can have the best goalie in the world and that will not cure having a horrible team playing in front of him

What’s the logic of Campbell being different somewhere other than Edmonton? Maybe Babcock can revive him?

I think you just have to take a chance on talent and guys who typically show a decent goals saved above average. Like Vejmelka in AZ. His raw numbers stink, but so does the team in front of him. Maybe he can break out in a different spot. I'd be fine running a veteran tandem too. If Toronto wants to get a more proven goalie and makes Samsonov available I'd be up for bringing him in.

Yeah I was mostly being hyperbolic. Of course you can’t just bank on a scrub getting hot. I just mostly find it frustrating how freaking hard it is to project goal tending. It can lay waste to the best made plans.

Goalie scouting is bad. Ideally your self scouting would determine your goalies weaknesses and your systems would be setup to minimize that risk. You would also want 2 goalies that are similar in terms of style and weaknesses in this scenario.

Edmonton plays no defence. Doesn't matter who plays net the way they play.

Your current opinion is that the Edmonton Oilers play good team defence? Thats your opinion after watching them play?

At no point did I say Jack Campbell was a stud. In fact, I am saying that I would like to see if we can get him and some picks for Granlund. I am implying that he had a not very good season and that we should try to buy low and have him as a competent goalie in a time share.

It's the same thing as Fleury near the end of the Bylsma era. The team gave up non stop wide open chances and Fleury looked terrible. He has done pretty ok in his career since then.
