a figurehead is a person who de jure appears to hold an important and often supremely powerful title or office, yet de facto exercises little to no actual power.

best thing that happen to them was bottoming out last season, #3 pick looks really good. Jarmo like a kid at Chritmas, buying all sorts of gifts.

Flyers would need to retain money and maybe take some back as well. I would take Roslovic at 4 million left for this year. Maybe he can get flipped at TDL if not part of future. He is only 26 so Maybe he finds his game.

I would've said maybe you take Gudbranson back but he has 3 years left on his deal. They would need to be creative.

50% retention for Gudbradson and mid rd pick. Does Columbus no have excess Dman?

So at the moment, what does the top 6 D pairings look like? Does York move to the left on the top pair, or did he play well enough on the right last year that they leave him there even if that's not what's potentially best for the player? If York stays on the right, who plays top pair on the left, Sanhiem? Are Risto, Tony D, & Walker the top 3 natural RHD? Aren't they all third pair quality?

BTW, How's Ellis doing?

I wouldn't try to peg a lineup. I doubt some of the defenders on the roster will be here after the draft or when camps starts. They could move Seeler, DeAngelo, or Walker for that matter still. There are going to still be moving parts yet

Yeah, I definitely don't think they're done shaping the backend. It's just that there's a lot of bodies, and most would be difficult to move IMO. Seeler would be easy, but I kinda hope he stays.
I'm really just worried that Danny will have to overpay (either with assests in a trade or cap space/term) to bring in any UFA Dmen that would actually be a clear-cut upgrade over what they already have.

Pulling a Chuck Fletcher. He is now in the position of having to make moves rather than the moves coming to him and in a position of weakness.

Could go either way for him.

What would it take to flip Petersen to the Hawks or some other team with cap space?

Honestly, as much of his contract as they want.

With his deal, I can't imagine many. Probably less than a handful of teams.

✔️ Sign a UFA forward to a huge contract,
✔️ Trade multiple top draft assets for an overrated dman,
✔️ Hire controversial coach other teams wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole,
✔️ Add a veteran top-pair right-side dman on a long contract.

If Severson immediately gets hurt and goes on perma-LTIR we'll have bingo.

Probably the same price the Kings paid to dump him to us. A top-60 pick.

I guess some think my position on these proposals is off so I’ll go on record here… I see it as 3 options being discussed or hypotheticals

1) make some trade of assets for example #7 hart/tk to move up to like 2 for fantilli.

2) trade some combo of tk/hart gaining more picks presumably at least 1st rounders ++

3) keeping picks as we have them now and maybe moving players later or kicking down the road somewhat.

My stance is there are absolutely no nobrainers in these options. If anything option 3 is a no brainer that you don’t do as I think you need to move those players with highest trade value to rebuild.

I can live with either option 1 or 2. But neither is a no brainer. I’d probably prefer option 2 simply because this team only has a few top end prospects. And by ridding self of players like hart tk laughts provy will almost certainly drive team down standings and getting to that top 3 draft position next year. We’re talking ALOT of 1st and 2nd rounds picks next couple years of we move provy tk hart

But if philly were to lose those in theory picks from hart/tk trade and add 7 to move up to 2 I wouldn’t be pissed. Would still have some high picks also the next few years.

Neither option imo is a no brainer that’s all I was debating.
