That Detroit series was a big let down after beating the Rangers. The Lindros backhander from the bad angle to win the game was , I thought at the time, a great sign going into the finals. The finals was a dud but I guess that was the time for the Russian 5 to shine and Scotty Bowman as coach was hard to compete against.

I remember a radio talk show asking fans what message they want to send the Flyers one caller said “ To Lindros: Stanley Cup finals were great, wish you were there”

Oh well in the grand scheme of things those were the great times of this franchise. Besides the 1973- 1976 teams.

A happy congratulations to Alyn. Well deserved.

Just wondering when the next round of internal promotions for a dogpoop country club franchise is?

Maybe the alumni will let some of the other media guys have a shot at more prominent roles. Sadly president of hockey ops is locked up, but you never know what might be available if you fondle the Bullies long enough.

FWIW; twenty-some years ago a dear friend and coworker after one of his winter visits to Florida brought me a Flodia Panthers cap as a surprise souvenir. He knew I was a huge Flyers fan, and loved hockey, but he didn't grasp the fact that I would never wear an item from another team... except in rare circumstances. Well, the cap collected dust in my upstairs bedroom closet for decades, until that rare occasion arose; when the Panthers came back against the Bruins... the team that shattered the all-time NHL point record... I suddenly, for the first time in years, remembered the cap, dug it out, and dusted it off. I've been wearing the cap wherever I go since that day, to bring the Panthers good luck... and it seems to have worked -- and it also started a few conversations that would never have been had otherwise -- Tonight the Vegas Golden Knights begin their quest to become the modern day nhl fanchise who has captured the Stanley Cup the quickest... replacing my Flyers... my heart is with the other team who also has never won a Cup, and I will wear the cap I never imagined I'd ever wear, many years ago when I received it, clear through the finals... and hopefully a bit beyond. LET'S GO, Panthers!!!!!

Exactly... To me Vegas seems to be a well built franchise that was aided In its development by a generous entry draft that was in place to allow the NHL to demand such a huge entrance fee... albeit though a franchise that was put together wisely to take advantage of the draft, as well as perform very well for an extended period. Florida on the other hand IMO is a franchise that paid its dues and honesty worked to progress... and has hit all the proper button of late to allow them to capture lightening a bottle... as well as capture tge hearts of many hockey fans outside of the Florida universe. It is the Panthers time... Vegas can wait for theirs.

I wonder when the Flyers will start celebrating long time season ticket holders with positions in the organization...

The young ones who commit to season tickets, 🎟 should be celebrated. Young fans only have the 2010 Stanley Cup appearance to live on.

LOL... it's 'one of' by a Smartphone submitter with fat fingers. TBH, at times even I have little to no idea trying to remember what I was trying to say... and what I either botched, or what Autocorrect believed I wanted to say. 'Pnebof' actually caused me to pause for a minute there. Haha

PS: I edited that original post... should make alot more sense now.

The best part is that even though I’m rooting for Florida I really don’t care who wins.
I live Tkachuk. Wish the flyers had the foresite to try and get him.

Yea it is nice, I’m here in SFL, always root for them in non-Flyer scenarios but won’t lose sleep over a loss. Now my buddies, o, they’re all in.

Im being 100% honest when I tell you that I had a gut feeling that the Cats were going to tie it up before the 2nd Intermission... even as the time ticked down... but do admit that with 12 seconds left, I did worry I was wrong. Huge momentum swing going into the break here.
