Karine Hains: In Hainsight: What the Canadiens Should Aspire to Be The Canadiens were given a hockey clinic by the Avalanche last night and if the rebuild goes according to plan, perhaps Kent Hughes’ team will in the not-too-distant future look a little bit like the Colorado outfit.

I wonder if they will move Anderson this summer while they can still sell high.

And if so, what the return would or could be.

The Flyers exist. I'm sure Comcast would make that move.

I do not think they really want to trade him. If there was a similar player int he system almost ready to join the NHL, it would be a different story. But who knows, all I expect is that the Habs off-season/draft/free agency to be fun this year - crazier than last year.

not sure why the off season should be crazy, but ok

The huge thing on their plate will be the Caufield contract but that could be it, really

They are keeping Anderson.
We can all expect some bad contracts being bought/traded.
With some cap space and St-Louis in place, we can also expect some decent UFAs wanting to come play here.

That and the draft.

I think they will do what they did last season with their bad contracts: they will keep them. Which mean there wont be many spots if any to sign a UFA or 2. Which is ok anyway.

This year/off-season is still flushing out the roster and identifying team needs/development.

I think next off-season (2024) will be when really big things happen.

... will use the Habs to get a better contract elsewhere.
