Love the shot of Eric Haula sitting on the floor, not watching the shootout. I mean you have to think this guy really cares and wants to win! As his production has warmed up, I've been feeling better about having him here. Still don't like the trade for Pavs, but I think Fitzy just wanted to move on from Zacha. And that's OK.

Feel like Meier has been struggling a bit to fit in and has gotten some bad breaks. I mean most of his own doing, not like some bad luck thing. Like that tripping penalty in OT. So I'm glad to see him bury that chance and win a game for us. Kind of hope it makes him feel more comfortable playing here. I really liked trading form him and want it to work out great for everyone!

The Devils at 5v5 with Timo Meier on the ice in his first 3 games:

-50-31 shot attempts
-30-13 shots
-31-14 scoring chances
-9-4 high danger scoring chances
-65.21 xGF%

He has 13 shots, is 2nd on the team in shot contributions(only behind Jack), and 11 hits.

He's already dominating, especially last night(led the team in CF% and xGF%), and he's only going to get better when he gets settled in and gets used to other players tendencies. He's a true game changer.

With Meier he was just traded from a terrible team and hadn't played in a while and is also in a new system and hasn't had much time to practice and believe he is playing his off wing too

Will give him some time

To be fair Jack hasn't looked the same before the injury, just looks a step or two behind his usual self, still effective but just some plays it looks like he isn't fully back yet

As Todd said in the email (yes I'm too cheap to subscribe), "With Meier and Hughes on the ice, the Devils won the shot attempt battle 16-6 and posted an expected goal share above 90%. As decisive as the shot advantage was, they graded out even better when weighting for quality."

LOL. Yeah they're dynamic together, which was expected, and I fully believe they're nowhere near the best they're gonna be. They currently have a .869 PDO together, so they've just been incredibly unlucky. It's gonna regress and the points will start flowing from those two, especially as Timo gets more acclimated here.

I see people on Twitter and reddit talking about how bad Jack and Timo have been, and I just don't understand lol. Timo had a bad giveaway against Toronto(which was at the end of his shift, after Dougie made a brutal pass to Jack) and has taken 1 stupid penalty(high stick against Toronto) and 1 unlucky penalty(trip against Caps) and people just ignore the rest of the game for some reason lol. It's very weird, it's essentially the thing they always do to Sevo.

That’s degenerate. They only have a few games together lol, plus Timo is returning from injury.

Give Timo a couple of games, you'll be chanting "Timo Time" too. Also, if you're a fan who doesn't care about stats and analytics the guy is huge and uses his body to knock guys off the puck. When people talk about power forwards, Timo is actually that kind of player.

I still think this team should have gone after puljujarvi instead. Can’t believe how bad Edmonton was fleeced on such a dynamic player.

Same lines in morning skate as last game. Lazar is finally with the team, but obviously won't play.

No word on which goalie will get the nod tonight.(I'd personally play Vanecek tonight and give Schmid Carolina tomorrow, but we'll see. Once Blackwood is back I'd probably give Vitek some time off to rest up.)

Hopefully Nico isn't seriously hurt. Looked to be in bad shape getting off the ice after the game, couldn't put much pressure on his foot. Hopefully just a stinger.
