The only thing making me think Duke may have something right off the hop is that he’s was cleared (out of no contact practice jersey) to return like 5 games ago.
Still, I imagine it’s going to take time for him to really be “back”. Starting him on line 3 is probably the right call.
Line 1 needs to step up tonight!

“stand pat-ers”

They knew they were going to have to ride this year out back in October.

I heard Horny is done for the year. Won’t return even IF they make playoffs.
Sucks his last game as a Panther ended with a blind side cheap shot that gave him another concussion.

He and Pacioretty were in contact a lot. I wonder if Patches getting hurt again just a week after getting into game action spooked Duclair a bit and has him holding out just a little longer.

give us Eric back for one last kick at the can.

He probably won't dress, but it'd be good to have him around.

I was thinking the same when Pacioretty re-injured his, that it may make Duclair and the Panthers slow down. Didn’t know they were in contact with each other.
Hubie came back better than ever from his Achilles rehab, but his was cut by skate, not torn while working out.

Yeah Patches said they talked a bunch, seeing what the other one was doing, etc.

That’s gonna be tough to deal with.
Duclair going to get thrown right in on the top line now, supposedly. So much for easing back in on 3rd line.
At least they called Denisenko back up.

No trades unless they are our UFA's going out for picks. As much as I want to make the show, there are just too many teams with too many games in hand. We just need to win as many games as possible to stay as high as possible to soften the blow for the horrific Montreal pick blunder.

Took him til Christmas to get going, but he’s been pretty good lately. Him with Lomberg and Cousins have been a handful for opponents lately.

Lyon will need to win a few games down the stretch run.
Best wishes to Spencer...

Goalie Spencer Knight will be away from the #FlaPanthers for an extended period of time as he receives care from the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. His move to AHL Charlotte has been canceled.

Wow, Knight has issues. I guess his trade value went down a ton. Barkov doesn't have the desire to win. he's soft and needs to step down from being a captain.

I would have Eric Staal as my first-line centerman. Not Luostarinen, he soft and doesn't have the drive of an Eric Staal.

Well written, Matt. I think you're on target.

This is beyond "regression" to me also. Regression indicates a move back to the expected mean from an outlying position, statistically speaking. We've way overshot the expected mean and are 3 or 4 sigmas out the other way. Enough stats.

This season is simply a massive disappointment. I put most (97+%) on Paul Maurice for breaking what was working and the remaining 3% on environmental issues. I really can't see anything that Maurice has improved upon since last year. The opportunity to fix the power play and defense was certainly there. Yet the PP remains completely ineffective, if not actually harmful. The defense is the same porous mess, maybe worse. Goaltending could be better, but way too often the Panthers can't clear the zone, give up short-handed breakaways, give up dumb penalties at key times, etc. If anything, it's a wonder that Bob shows up for work.

Honestly, given last year, I don't think it's possible to make the power play worse. But I think pretty much every other facet of the game has severely deteriorated under Maurice.

Hoping for a good effort and a W tonight, but not counting on either.

Thanks, Jimbo. I appreciate it!

This season really turned into a mess for a number of reasons. It should be interesting to see how the remainder plays out and what they do at the TDL/in the summer…

What do they have to sell? broken Duclair who hasn't shown anything yet? a broken Hornqvist who might be done for the season? Everything else has term one way or another.

What happened to the Panthers and the Flames?

I guess some trades do not help either team. Hubby and Weegar struggling with the Flames style of play. Although Matty's doing great point-wise, but I think losing Hubby and Weegar did not help the panthers. And the same goes for the Flames about losing Chucky and off course Gaudreau. Let's see who makes the playoffs but both teams have major holes to fill.

“Yada yada ya, blah blah blah”
Paul fukking Maurice happened....

Idk, too easy of an answer? Things that were good, aren’t as good now... things that needed work, still need just as much (if not more) work.
