I think a 2nd rounder is the ceiling.

That's about the best I'm envisioning too and I have to imagine it'd be a late second rounder, barring an upset

A big obstacle will be how coaching handles the minutes on Ice. It’s obvious Horvat - Barzal & Nelson are seeing major minutes over others just hoping this doesn’t turn into burnout or Injury. This is time for the rest to step up and coaching to play a role in pre-planning.

I don’t think a 2nd is a bad return especially considering if it’s a 2023.

It's not bad, but it's not great either. Any assets in addition to a 2nd round pick could make it better though.

Article is over two years old, but it's good insight on the success rate of draft picks playing more than 99 games

https://dobberprospects.c...draft-pick-probabilities/

And that's just playing 99 or more games. The quality of the player is obviously somewhat subjective

I do not see organization making any additional moves unless they are out of it. It is the playoffs or the bottom of the sound with the current group.

So we want at least 4 out of 6 points over the extended weekend, right?

Right?

Interesting article. I’ll say that I would rather have that potential 2nd round pick then a signed for too much money and term Scott Mayfield.

As long as those 4 points come against the penguins. With no loser points.

Yeah with both wins coming against the Pens. Of course would love to have all six and realistically that’s what the team needs to do to get back in the conversation for the last wild card.

Or winning all 3 because…who the (frank) knows with this team?

I asked the original question because all we’ve talked about is the draft and who we’re trading in a few weeks so I wasn’t sure what side of the fence we are on here.

As long as there is still hope I'm on the let's get 6 points side of fence. If they get 4 points or less by TDL . Sell.

Once management decides to buy or sell , I will be 100 percent behind it. The one thing I will not be able to tolerate is to stand pat. Another full season of mediocrity will suck and it really isn't acceptable right now . Especially with a lame duck GM.

Hopefully, for your sake I guess, it’s a tall fence or we’re looking at a David Carradine situation. Either way, it’s not pretty.

100%. The one thing I do know is whatever happens before the regular season ends doesn’t really matter. It will end in disappointment. I know that because that’s been the one constant with the team this year and last.

I can see Varly steal one tonight and Sorokin play out of his mind tomorrow. The Isles do play Boston tough.

But I am also two glasses into my Woodford Reserve.

It should not be anymore. Bottom line... This team has come too far in the last 4 years to piss things away and fall back to the ole ways.

Like potvin said they could also win all three games. That’s what is frustrating with this team. They could win some games they just don’t want to for whatever reason.
