Honestly. The defense is getting better. But when the Ducks get down they have to take a offensive strategy. That's when they get into trouble and give up goals. They're going to have to learn to transition between offense and defense better.

And the team has been getting better. Particularly on defense. Hockey is a game where you have to play both offense and defense at the same time. So progress gas been slow. Baby steps. But I still believe that working on defense is the right way to go. There was no way this Ducks team was going to win games giving up 5 or 6 goals a game. Getting it down to a manageable 3 or 4 goals against per game will give them a chance to win more games.

I think next year some time if they keep on the defense things will start to bear fruit. Maybe around next Christmas.

Nothing positive to say about the Ducks? The most positive thing is they're starting to play like crap again! There were actually people in the Ducks season ticket holder blog who thought that when the Ducks went 5-0-1 recently that GMPV was considering rehiring Eakins! Seriously, almost all of them don't give a crap about the Bedard sweepstakes, they just want Eakins gone. Looking at the next few games, their minds should be eased, Anaheim plays LA, Florida, and TB back-to-back, and then Washington, That should be four more losses, and some of them doozies.
Thrun was disappointing, but at least he was honest with Verbeek, rather than that lying piece of poop Justin Schultz! With all of the quality D-men the Ducks have in junior, he probably would have been a 5/6 defenseman anyway. It will be curious to see where he ends up. I know he wants to play for the Bruins but that's not going to happen anytime soon. The Bruins defense is set for the foreseeable future. Whatever, hope GMPV can get a little something for him.

Yeah. Eakins is probably gone. I don't mind him as much as other Ducks fans. Mostly because I know that this team is tanking, so Eakins was set up to fail. But I still like to see some progress. Best I can say about him is that he's an average to above average coach. If he could teach some defense that would be a accomplishment. But the progress is still slow. So it's hard to be mad at or praise Eakins. He's just doing what he can.

He has a .370 lifetime winning percentage in the NHL and he's never had one winning season in Anaheim or Edmonton. From what I've heard from the players, he's a real nice guy, but the guy can't teach structure at this level. What GMPV needs to do is get Dallas back to San Diego where he knows what he's doing and get an experienced coach for the Ducks.

True. Bad win percent looks bad. But Edmonton never gave him a fair shoot. Only a year and a half. And Anaheim has been tanking over the last 4 years. So you really need to take a look at the situation first before quoting wins and loses.

The fact that Eakins can't teach structure in my opinion is that he teaches things backwards. He prioritizes offense first. Over the last 3 years he's been messing around with different offensive systems. Manly the aggressive forecheck. And most Ducks fans wanted this. They wanted to see goals and highlight reel plays. But the foundation of any championship level team in any sport has always been defense. So in my opinion Eakins should have started teaching defense first. And then worked on the transition game and offense. But we were tanking. So it really worked in our favor. And I know what I saying sounds old school. But it's been proven in every team sport. You just can't put the cart before the horse.

Offense??? Teaching offense … have you seen any offense from us that remotely could be called taught ….

We suck in all offensive categories…

Eakins is Ass. He’s had his chance - gotta go.

Well. That's was the thing he was told to do when was was hired. Teach the same style if offense that Vegas did. The Ducks just didn't have the right type of players to do it. So it failed. But it still worked in our favor for the tank. So it's not so bad.

I guess.. I have absolutely no faith in Vertank to come up with and implement any kind of coherent plan… short of gutting the team, so they suck and completely piss off a fan base.

Yep. I'm just waiting till this tank is over. It's hard to get excited about sports when you know they're not trying to win. Kinda stinks that we'll have to wait another 3 months after our season for that draft.
