Bill, there is a lot of talk in the TC about the Wild going after JVR. The Wild can’t score and they don’t have a center who can dish passes to anyone. JVR isn’t a fix but he can score some. Any idea what the Flyers would want back?

I just read an article on The Athletic about exactly this. They had sole comparisons of players from previous years as well. My guess is a 3rd is the lowest and a 2nd rd pick is probably the best bet.
But don't forget... this is done by the hand of "fleece me " feltcher so there is no telling what that tool bag will do to screw this up

After last night’s loss where they had a tired Avs team back on their heels, I think there is some desperation for Guerin. Imo a 2nd would be a win for the Flyers. I just don’t think JVR will thrive with no one getting him the puck.

Bill, do you think the Flyers have any interest in pursuing soon to be UFA Henry Thrun? The former U20 teammate of Cam York currently wears the C for Harvard and appears to be a solid D prospect.

I'd be happy with a second in this draft. Move him to Carolina and get our draft picks back!

you don't get the puck to JVR by passing it to him

you shoot it at the goalie

Ideally, the Flyers would like to get multiple teams giving competing offers for JVR. I can't see the Flyers getting more than 2nd round pick or a mid-tier prospect to rent JVR.

However, I think JVR would like to go to the Wild because he makes his off-season home in Minnesota and his wife's family is there, too.

Yes, I think they'd have interest. No inside track on him, however, apart from the Flyers heavily scouting and often drafting or signing USNTDP experienced players.

On a related note, I watched the Beanpot. I thought Hunter McDonald was solid. I didn't know, until it was noted on the broadcast of the Harvard/Northeastern game, that McDonald is 2nd in the NCAA in blocked shots this season. Whether you like or hate valuing blocked shots heavily, it's something that resonates with many coaches.

Hi Bill,

Long time listener, first time caller. Great stuff! I agree on a 2nd to mid tier prospect and getting assets back is essential. What about Braun or anyone else? Do you think if the flyers are sellers anyone else would be traded? Thanks. I'll hang up and listen.

I'd like to see Ersson get two starts on this road trip. No need to flog Hart in a season where they aren't making the playoffs.

That's a good point. Why run him into the ground? I don't know how many starts he has had but like 50 to 60 would be fine.

Phantoms lost two pretty important games because they had 2 of their best offensive players on the Flyers (yes Bellows is a pretty good AHL player) getting upwards of 5 minutes per game (wow!). They also had their best goalie prospect which necessitated playing beer league goalies.

Fletcher screwed the pooch with the Flyers and now is working his way down the ladder.

That’s another problem. The Wild don’t shoot the puck. Kaprizov and Zuccarello pass up shots so they can make east west passes trying for the pretty goal. When they’re not out, it’s dump and chase.

They would get less for Braun than a year ago but they may do him a favor and accept whatever they would get (late round pick) because he's been a good a soldier for the organization. I could see them getting a latter round offer on Patrick Brown. There is definitely interest in Nick Seeler but I don't know if the offers are/will be to a level where they'd move his inexpensive contract with a year left on it unless someone offers an asset overpay.

Torts called the shot on Ersson. He really, really, really wanted him back in the NHL and elevated over Sandström. He got his way.

The Phantoms definitely missed having Lycksell and Bellows available for the B2B in Charlotte.

Then they should have bit the bullet and waived Sandstrom. If he got claimed, then he would be rught where he is now -- not playing for the Flyers! If he gets through waivers, then the Phantoms have a fighting chance.

There never seems to be any thought or due diligence that goes into Fletcher's decisions.....unless, of course, he miraculously has some trade value

I watched that game. The loss falls squarely on FLower's shoulders. He was absolutely brutal in that game.

All 3 should have been stopped. Gustavsson has been lights out and MAF should be his backup.

I looked like he just didn't give a damn. And then he waived to the crowd when he stopped a dump in and they gave him the Bronx cheer. Pathetic.

That would be poor management. Next season they should have Zamula and Attard on the team, with Ginning and Wylie as depth options, and the possibility of Andrae coming over. And if they really need a cheap third pairing dman for 23-24 to go along with their super expensive third pairing dmen Angelo & Risto, they can sign one in free agency.
