Regarding Toews, you likely don't have to incentivize the Hawks much to retain salary. They know that his contract is oversized, and if they want a decent (or better) return then they have to eat half of it (or take back a contract that is similarly difficult.
Out of curiosity, do you think you need/want both Domi and Toews? I figured WIN was in pretty good shape overall. |

I guess I could have worded it a bit better. They will definitely need to retain to move him, but the full 50% might take a bit more incentive than just a 2nd or 3rd.
I think the possibility of Toews and Domi to add much more depth would be a great move. They need better depth, and regardless of where you put them, it instantly generates more depth. A projected lineup could look like:
Connor-Dubois-Ehlers
Domi-Scheifele-Wheeler
Perfetti-Toews-Barron
Gustafsson-Lowry-Appleton
Throw in Gagner, Maenalainen, Kuhlman wherever you like, but Domi is a clear upgrade over the bottom-six and could be worth the addition

I haven't been in this thread before but is it possible / beneficial to go after Ryan O'Rielly? |

Definitely isn't at the top of my list, personally. It would be beneficial without a doubt, but he hasn't really been said to be on the Jets' radar.
I think O'Reilly will end up in Carolina or Vegas personally

Very creative thinking. I like it. Wish a few GM's were thinking this way |

Need to acquire a GM with a set of balls and an owner who gives a damn. Team's a licence to print money no matter what and that's as far as they care. |

Gus on the 4th line? He is a good AHL player at best but obviously nothing more. I am still failing to see Gus as a NHL player and can't understand how he gets elevated to something that he is not and a NHL player he is not. |

I think the Jets should go after Timo Meier. He’s an RFA at seasons end… Even if they can’t sign him to an extension, they can flip him again at the draft and recoup most of the assets they used to acquire him. He’s a game breaker. Very few teams have the cap space and assets to acquire him. I think Jets should pull the trigger and do it. |

I would like to see the Jets go after Schenn, Meier and Toews, if he comes for a 3rd.
This team needs to improve their 3rd line scoring and get a physical d-man for the playoffs.
If they can get something decent for Schmidt and/or Pionk this could help them play playoff style hockey. |

Toews is a negative impact player at this point, and Domi is a rush playmaker with a black hole where his defensive game should be.
We need a scorer, an actual play driver, or both |

When his son Brendan got called out by Brady Tkachuk ( after being bitten by Brendan) as a "cementhead ", "gutless". etc then I think that all the earlier comments about Claude's son became more real. No one in junior or the NHL liked the kid . A true A-hole inside and out of the dressing room. Chevy and the Jets actually gave Brendan more respect than he probably deserved so I doubt that Claude would hold it against the Jets when they granted Brendan's request for a trade.
Business is business and it's not necessarily in Claude's control where Meier gets traded. |

He was one of the best players in the AHL, and at 22, he simply doesn’t lose puck battles. He’s big, responsible defensively, and may have more offence to give.
I’d like to see him with NHLers before I write him off so young with such a strong track record. |

Made of glass and often injured, 66 NHL games played over 4 year, 2019 - 2023 - 6 points. Played 82 games with Moose over the same period.
Lets face it, this 2nd round pick is now worthless and its no fault of the team. He simply can't stay in a lineup and if ppl are saying Lambert and Lucious have limited value, I have no idea what his value is, if anything.
Doesn't lose defensive battles? There were games this year where he is simply unable to get the puck out the zone, sorry, but this 2nd round pick is a bust.
Once this current contract concludes itself, he will be back playing in Sweden. |

Its strange that Gus is so injury prone, apparently he's pretty strong/in good shape. |

I said he doesn’t lose puck battles. Weak transition game is a symptom of almost our entire team. Ehlers, Morrissey, and oddly enough Heinola are the strengths there.
As for the game count, you’re ignoring a lot of time in the Jets press box where playing would’ve helped. His production will come, he won’t be a top 6 forward, but 30 points is a reasonable ceiling for him if he gets someone who can shoot with him |

Gus is what he is.....he has good hockey sense, works hard, a decent penalty killer.
I was hoping that he would be better in the faceoff circle, but maybe that will come with more playing time.
I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

As usual, on many issues, I agree with Benny on this as well.

I find it weird as well and its 4 years in now .........so we're waiting and wondering when its supposed to happen. You don't sit in the presser because you are too damn good.
So, I am just speaking the obvious here sitting here scratching my head and asking myself when it's all supposed to happen......... |

Would wonder if any trade package might include Gus?
Not sure why AJF is not playing - no one works harder and makes things happen than Axel. They talk about accountability....but I don't know. AJF's work ethic is infectious and the Jets miss him IMO. Glad it was just the Hawks we played last night! |

Gagner is tradeable IMO.

I will be honest. Not one prospect in the Jets system excites me. Nor does a mid 20’s pick. We all know what Chevy’s drafting record outside the top 20 is right? Trade it all away and go All-In this year! |

The dominoes are about to fall on a Jakob Chychrun trade. Scratched this past game for trade-related reasons. This one should be really really interesting from a pricing perspective because he has so much term left and at a low salary. Going to be a substantial cost involved and there are only a handful of teams who actually might make this trade. |
