Change of subject here Jeremy, sorry.

Horvat signs for 8x8.5M. To me that sets a market for Larkin. Read Larkin's camp turned down 8M and is looking for Barzal money, 9.1M.
8.5M might be a good compromise.

I am literally right now texting a buddy and we had the same thoughts. We know Larkin’s agent met with him in Fla. we have trade deadline in a month and other stuff going on, but i do think that’s a good comp (some disagree). Good note on that, chat is chat. The fact that you took time to lay that down means a lot to me. Thanks for that

I blame the lack of viewership in the U.S. on these networks. I think wingingit had an article that said that Bally was bleeding out financially.

No problem. Enjoy visiting your site. I have a nefarious reason for getting Larkin off the market. With one less center available, teams may be interested in Toews as a rental.

Totally understand. I can’t imagine what Toews and Kane are internalizing right now. It’s a lot bigger deal internally than what the transaction will show

Cookie cutter players with no pizazz Need more flamboyant types in the league Get a few over the top type players to create controversy Too many players that are just a carbon copy of one another And ticket prices are outrageous Player salaries have to stop increasing or in the near future no one will be able to afford to go to a game
NHL does not have the crazy TV money that the NFL has and NEVER will. Do not try to compete with that NHL has their niche Throwing money at players does not increase their productivity just the size of the bankbook. And TV will never bail out the NHL. NEVER Be happy with what your have and do NOT get GREEDY.

Towes is a lot of money for a third line center. So I’m not sure there will many teams lining up for his services. I read kane is injured, and again lots of money for limited benefit. I won’t be shocked if both stay in Chicago this season. There are better, cheaper options out there for the money.

All i can think is that the cap hit goes down daily, and Chicago would have to take back contracts along with whatever the ask is. Possibly a 3 team deal to further dilute cap hit. Regardless, it takes a lot of moving parts to get that deal done for sure

Without having a major network other than ESPN, it's way too fragmented. I have YouTube TV and they might broadcast an NHL game once every two weeks, with about the same number of college hockey games. To watch all NHL games, you have to get both the NHL and your local broadcast partner, at probably $40 or so per month. People are growing tired of the sheer volume of subscriptions needed to get anywhere near where we all once were with a moderate cable or dish package. I think the NHL is going to have to get the games in front of people without making them jump through hoops to get them.

Any black-outs should be limited to anyone within 50-60 miles of the arena they are playing in. I am 500 miles from Detroit and have their games blacked out if they are at home, except if Balley has the game, of coarse. So getting a subsciption is out of the question for me. I already pay $180 a month for Sat TV and cell internet. It is way too much already.

Revenues not keeping up with inflation. NHL can only charge same people more money for so long.

It's really doesn't seem that difficult to move Toews or Kane, the Hawks retain 50% and a 3rd team is brought into the deal to eat another 25% which brings their cap hits down to $2.625M which is very manageable to fit in.

When the Hawks traded Lehner to Vegas a few years ago the Leafs were involved in that deal where they took on $2.5M of Lehners cap hit and they received a 5th round pick.

Wouldn't mind seeing a defenseman waived here soon. If Vrana keeps up his streak he's almost likely to get called up or should. My guess is Vrana gets called up after the trade deadline if he doesn't get traded. Waive Hagg please Stevie

Most teams are already at max cap. And I believe any team can only have 2 players where they can retain cap. So that may also limit a third team coming in. But the main topic is why? Better, cheaper and faster options out there. I know I’ll hear they leadership presence, which I would say let’s look at who carried Chicago to 3 cups: Marian Hossa. Without Hossa Chicago doesn’t win.

Vrana will be called up before the TDL to showcase him if they really want to trade him, then the new team can send him back down to be "in storage" as long as he has not hit the max games allowed to not go thru waivers again. This would free up a roster spot and over a million in cap space.

If Yzerman stops playing politics and truly wants to ice the best team it should include the only true pure goal scorer on the roster which is Vrana. Why trade a young goalscorer. My god If we held Lalonde coaching abilities to the same standard the organization has held Vrana to Lalonde would be long gone. This Vrana thing seems personal to me and not what is best for the team.

Now that Erne is down in GR... he can stay there. At this point with the entire team healthy he's not needed in Detroit and adds very little offensive upside... but he can still be called up if needed if any injuries occur. I'd be thrilled if Yzerman got rid of Lindstrom...

Seriously?.....Lalonde is not a substance abusing head case. Vrana's status with the team is neither political nor personal. Steve Yzerman has always been strictly business and will continue to be so.

Two of the talking heads of hockey are saying some concerning things about Vrana.

I still think this would be a terrible waste of an asset. I believe Vrana comes up to Detroit at some time to see if there is anything to salvage in his contract years left here.
