Trevor you better check your stats. The Oilers the 5th best in the league for 5x5 goals against in the past 5 games. Much, much better the Flames have done in the last 10.

Yeah I agree with both you and Trevor on this one. Put the 2 French guys on the same line with Kadri.

What does that have to do with anything?

What stats does he need to check? He brought up the fact that the Flames, Avs, and Lighting have the exact same goals against per game since January 1. I'll go ahead and check it for him. Yep, he's right, and all three are better than the Oilers. He also didn't mention the Oilers a single time in his blog because they're irrelevant. Why are you doing a comparison with different sample sizes anyway?

The Flames won't be thinking about the Oilers again until next preseason. The Oilers had a decent week. Good for them. So did the Hawks.

December 31-Jan 9: 25th in the League at 3.60 GA/GP
Jan 11-17: Tied for 4th at 2.00 GA/GP

Great turnaround, it was kind of fun to watch the implosion prior. That said, across the season the Oilers are 20th. Who would have thought Broberg playing to his potential was all you guys needed?

Thanks Trevor.

Generally speaking the Flames are a slower team than teams like Nashville and Colorado.
There are three main ways to nullify speed, one being laying the body, two winning face-offs to limit puck possession time, and three cultivating some young rookie legs to match speed with speed.
There seems to very little interest in plan three.
In the Nashville game they out hit us 30 to 28 and totally out classed in the face-off circle and Kadri had more hits than the entire fourth line combined.
There is something missing and for starters we desperately need to establish an identity toward incorporating some young hungry talent judged on ability not size!

Squeaky have you forgotten what happened in 2022 playoffs? More of that to come for the flames, if they actually make it in. And Trevor did have to slag other teams including Oilers with incorrect information just to embellish the flames value.

What incorrect information? He also didn't slag on anyone except saying the Avs are bad at faceoffs... because they're bad at faceoffs. He said the Flames, Avs, and Lighting are tied for 8th best goals against per game in 2023... because the Flames, Avs, and Lightning are tied for 8th best goals against per game in 2023.

Or are you holding some weird grudge over something he wrote months ago?

Uh, Kristian Reichel is in the Jets organization. Lucas Reichel is with the Hawks. Coincidentally both have been assigned to the AHL recently.

Flames burned through that 2.89 goals against in less than 20 minutes. Why do they suck so much?

Squeaky you are not very observant or have selective reading. The following is copied from the Trevor blog "MacScorin’-The Flames may have their hands full in their own end tonight. Nathan MacKinnon comes into tonight with 11 points in his last five games. A grain of salt on that may be required — all five opposing teams are in the bottom half of the league in Goals Against Per Game Played. Detroit, Ottawa, Edmonton, Florida and Chicago". This is his incorrect information or statistics that I corrected. Maybe you need to learn how to read or comprehend.

20th is indeed on the bottom half of 32.

Since you’re trying to claim I’m providing inaccurate info, let’s get into your claim.

Trevor you better check your stats. The Oilers the 5th best in the league for 5x5 goals against in the past 5 games. Much, much better the Flames have done in the last 10.

You’re grabbing two small, differing samples and making an entirely different claim from the information I provided. It doesn’t make sense why you would try to thump your chest about one team allowing less goals in five games than another allowing in ten, but this is your thought process. You justify it.

Trevor statistics or analytics as hockey analysis like to call it don't lie, but people use them to fit their own agenda. When you claimed the Oilers had the fifth worse goals against in the league you used the stats from pre-Christmas (which they never were). So I corrected you and indicated that in fact they have been in top 5 (tied with Seattle) but are now even above that team with the results of their last two games. You like to insult other teams especially the Oilers which is fine, but get your information correct or be accused of miss use of analytics just to further your opinion. Some of the worse miss information use as Trump used to claim.

Also Colorado handled the flames very well without MacKinnon putting too many pucks into the net as you implying wasn't going to happen prior to the game when you decided to insult another of teams that he did score against.

Our ownership and management will have to adjust to the new NHL eventually. Many teams are too fast for us.

Treliving handcuffed this team trying to save his ass. I blame ownership, if we had a meddling owner like the Canucks, we wouldn’t be a bubble team.

With Sutters' prototype of the "ideal" player and some of the long term contracts we are committed to, the changes necessary to adapt to the new NHL, may prove very difficult.
At a press conference yesterday Sutter did speak highly of Jakcob Pelletier's attitude but in the next breath said that size would be a factor throughout his career.

The kid has never been given one shift in the NHL and his size is destined to be a factor impeding him throughout his career.

Your point is well taken and a change in philosophy from ownership down is needed.
