As someone who is sitting through the current Chicago hell (weather and hockey), I can say that it was certainly a relief when Kyle Davidson started the purge of anything that wasn't nailed down and stated without equivocation that they were going to tear it down to the studs and start over.

One of the biggest frustrations was Bowman saying that they were going to go this route, then after about a year and a half, he completely lost is mind and traded for/signed Fleury, Seth Jones and Tyler Johnson. Just pure lunacy.

Starting over comes with absolutely no guarantees, but it is much better than hoping average or older players can push the team over the top. From an outside perspective, Nashville looks like Chicago from right before Q was fired. Good enough to be generally competitive, but not a really dangerous team.

Maybe you are just two years away from where CHI is now.

THANK YOU !

I feel your pain. I worked in the organization years ago. I watched when the team was new and very mediocre but played hard night in and night out. The Titans were winning and the Organization absolutely hated it.
I left the organization after a few years but was a huge fan of the team and became a season ticket holder for a number of years. (Moved out of State) I continued to be a big fan through all the ups and downs. I purchased the Center Ice Package and worked my social schedule around so I could watch the Preds.
I’ve never had respect for ownership as I feel they don’t know hockey nor how to run a hockey organization. The only respect I have is for Sean Henry.
I’m pissed at the coaching staff and players. You stated you know when to “stand up during games before asked” because you know it’s coming. I know exactly how their going to run their power play. It hasn’t changed in years. The players are talented (most) but don’t seem to give a poop whether they win or not.
I no longer have Center Ice. I watch games on Hulu on occasion…when I have nothing else to do.

Preds make a big change, calling up Tommy Novak. All will be well now.
He actually was one of the better players on the ice offensively for the Preds tonight and was in the middle of a lot of chances. Maybe they can win against the Tank team on Wednesday before a tough one against Colorado Friday night.

13 of the last 14 Cup winners had a player they drafted either first overall or second overall on the roster when they won.

Edmonton traded their captain and best player for picks & prospects in 2006, arguably starting a rebuild. They've had 4 first overall picks since then, and while they are a playoff team, I don't think many would consider them a big Cup contender. Buffalo is a decade into a rebuild, multiple first overalls, and not a contender. Red Wings & Ducks, also in their ~5th year of a rebuild, and no where close to being Cup contenders.

You pretty much have to have a full rebuild to have a team that will be a real Cup contender for long enough to actually win one. But going through a full rebuild is no guarantee of being any better than you are now. So it's easy to see why owners may not have the stomach for one.

Excellent win! The young guys really stepped up, Saros played solid (minus the Pujaarvi goal), and the physicality was there. I still think that this win resulted in the Oilers being quite off last night, but as I have always said, A win is a win in this league.

Having Novak is a big boost. His hands on the 1-2 with Granlund was almost fantastic.

We have a tough stretch coming up so excited to see how things go. I stand by my conclusions in the article despite a big win, but I'll always take a win no matter what. I am absolutely not one to straight up root for tanking. I will never ever root for my team to lose. That's why I am positioning for an entire restructure as opposed to pure tanking.

Thanks for reading everyone! Keep the comment coming. I really enjoy your views whether you agree with me or completely think I'm crazy. All fun to me!

The long and short of it is the team and the organization are stale and boring. Get a pulse for God’s sake! Quit overpaying mediocre talent..

Hate the way the Season is going but truthfully happy they stepped up in the off season and brought in McDonagh and Nino. They retained Eckholm and Forsberg when temptation was there to trade them in their walk years. So frustrating last year when they had a good start but didn’t bring in players and spend to the Cap. I can at least stomach a losing season when I know they are trying to win.
Years they had a good regular season they flopped in the Playoffs and the 2017 run was as an 8th seed. Going to keep hoping they get this turned around and find a way into the Playoffs, hopefully with a healthy Saros.

I liked these pickups as well, and still do. The one concern I have is that another playoff birth (no matter how we crawl in) will convince management, etc. that this team is good and capable of going the distance. I'll continue to root for wins as I will never join the crowd of tanking and losing on purpose, etc. That's absurd to me. We will see how this calendar year closes out with Dallas being a good test tonight. I'll come with follow up analysis in the new year to couple with this article.

They failed the test.
This team is just bad, plain and simple.

Past time for an overhaul, scouting and coaching staff must go.
Poile as well, time to go in a different direction.

Preds vs Ducks. Cant wait for this one. Honda Center is fun and looking forward to this game. Second row from the ice behind the net. And rootin for the Preds.
