It seems like so long ago I actually wanted to see this team win games and now the best possible direction for this franchise is to lose as many games as possible.

That pandemic stole our only shot at a solid cup run since 2010. Why do the hockey gods hate us so much? Why do they keep our FO employed and give them 6 or 7 figure incomes each year?

In my view the pandemic gave them a pseudo run.

They were just firing on all cylinders, though. The team bought in. I remember seeing JVR and Jake both back check! Together! In the same game!! It was beautiful. But then we got locked down and when they came back to play they were not the same. I don't know what happened or if we just caught lightning in a bottle but the team was playing cohesively and doing a damn good job at it.
It was the worst blue balling I've had since 2010. I wven put 100 on the flyers to win the cup at 18:1 odds. I was stoked lol

The Flyers were just on a hot streak. It was a screwed up season. Players missing from lineups and all kinds of stuff going. Players screwed up by the bubble.

Before the bubble was when we were hot, though, right?! We were the hottest team in the NHL before things got shut down. Those were fun times to be a flyers fan.
Hot or not of they could have maintained that then who knows what could have been
Now we will never know but WOW did we look awful when we came back from lockdown. Everybody was probably our of shape and depressed to a certain extent. Athletes and peasants, both!
It's just disappointing to watch that streak and cohesiveness get stolen from us

JVR back checking... that was a good year, huh? Lol

Before the pandemic, not after. They were terrible in the bubble. Hart got them out of the MTL series

TK Coots G was one of the best lines in hockey that year

They had two separate hot streaks. Were at hockey .500 at the end of October then had the NHL's best record in November. In December, they kept on winning at home but struggled on the road. Went into a tailspin when they got the news about Oskar Lindblom. Had a horrific post-Christmas road trip. Then got red hot again until the stoppage for the pandemic.

Hart is in goal tonight. Tony DeAngelo is a (semi) healthy scratch. Cam York is in the starting lineup.

It was an entire season that was not normal. One hot streak doesn't make a team a true cup contender. Unless it happens in the playoffs. That's my point. I don't look at one hot streak in the regular season and say wow, what could've been. Nobody really knows but I didn't see them as a true contender. Fun to watch for a bit.

So Tony is a bit banged up... is it related to the previous puck hit related scratching? His playing off the top pairs, and in reduced minutes, since returning seemed odd to me.

I don't believe so but am not certain. He could always join them in New Jersey for next Thursday's game. There's usually a morning skate in Voorhees and then a bus to Newark.

Two weeks turned into a stolen Stanley cup run, damn it!!

And being a person who was against the lock down from the start it pissed me off even more to watch this happen to that season.
I have lots of what ifs about that season, now and I hate what ifs lol

They were downright dominant, weren't they?! That's when we saw the rise of TK and it was glorious!
Now he is ascending again this year. He is one of a few bright spots on this team right now that make it worth watching....well, watching the highlights, anyway
