Hope Ned goes to GR next for a couple weeks.
Hellberg won his 1st with GR last night 4-2 against the Iowa Wild. Hellberg finished the night not only with the victory, but also with 40 saves.
Nice to see Berggren cash in again to add to his "unsustainable" stats.

I can't for the life of me understand why the coach would not only play both Haag and Lindstrom but play them together when they have showed from the start of the season that they are horrible as a pair. Haag should be waived and if they are lucky some team will pick him up so he doesn't clutter GR which already has too many defensemen. -2 tonight for Haag and -3 for Lindstrom.

Something that is concerning also is that Seider is worst on the team at -14 followed by Chiarot at -13. They are playing the toughest minutes and assignments but you can see what a good complement partner can do with Maatta and Hronek which both lead the Wings in +/-. Only problem is there isn't really anybody else to play with Seider unless you break up Maatta and Hronek. Hronek was -2 tonight playing with Oesterle. Only option right now for the top pair would be for the coach to tell both Seider/Chiarot to stop pinching and running out of position so much...either that or tell Chiarot to be a stay at home defenseman period.

Wow, not even sure where to begin. Was listening to the game as I drove from VA to SC....had to pull over in Kenly, NC to throw up. Actually, I didn't but felt like it.

Look, there are cracks being discovered across the team, as any team is experiencing. Being in a rebuild, I'd think more would be found. Mo & Ben are having +/- issues, but I'm not sure what the underlying stats are.....I do know they pull the toughest assignments and play Top4 minutes every night. Would be curious to see what +/- looks like when Ned's in net v. Husso......might find that the bulk of goals are when Ned's in net.

Ned needs a "conditioning stint" in GR. He's lost his game, his team seems to have zero confidence in him, and he doesn't trust himself. I want to see Sir Magnus of Goal get some more GR time then come up and ply his wares. The thing is, either Ned or Hellberg are trade-bait, but Ned needs to improve for a better return....maybe for some solid D-men. Haag has yet to prove his worth, 3d line D last nigth was atrocious.

Like you said, Jeremy; a FL Split is a win. TBL looked lost the other night, FLA looked like Stanely Cup champs.....any given Sunday, I reckon. Heard a dude from the Athletic on the radio last night say that he could easily be convinced that DRW are SCPO capable, but needed to address 3d-line D. So, we're making noise and teams are wary of what team we'll ice each night; that's a good thing.

We're in such a tricky place; 1 bad trade or move and we're toast. If we keep on the trajectory we're on, we draft in the middle and have some decent TDL & off-season talent to share across the league. I don't want to be in the SCPO this year; we'll be destroyed (most likely) and that could have a negative impact on the young guys as well as any FA talent we're trying to lure in. Best to show improvement along the way, continue to establish a well-known culture & system....NOT saying to tank or be OK with a middle finish this year, am saying I'd be content with it.

Oh, and we were man-handled by FLA last night............

Soderblom was sent to GR, develope down there big guy!

I hope Walman and Maata are back for tomorrow's game.
Detroit needs to address the RD on the 3rd pairing and use Osterle as the 7th, send Haag and Lindstom ..... somewhere. The Canes are loaded with RD...still. They just sent little used Dylan Coughlan down for a conditioning stint, maybe he could be an answer for the Wings 3rd pairing. I believe he is more offensive minded, but he is on a near minimum salary deal.

Good grief... where to begin. One of the worst games of the season. Wings were pinned in their own defensive zone the entire 2nd period... like the ice was tilted. I don't blame this loss on Ned... but the entire team.

I saw Hellberg play in GR last Wednesday and he looks like a very solid goalie. Made 40 saves. Tracks the puck well, good positioning and bailed out GR on several penalty kills... including 5 on 3 PK. Give this dude a shot in Detroit.

Also got to see Edvinsson play as well. Looked pretty good for the most part. I was pleasantly surprised to see him using his size and played physical along the boards. He's got 9 points in 16 games. One thing i will say is he needs to be more aggressive on the PK... not just stand still when he's got that reach and size.

The one thing that doesn't take talent, high draft picks and top coaches is effort. It shouldn't have to be taught, it shouldn't have to be coached at this level. The games I've watch so far this year they've gone through long periods of time where they simply aren't putting in the effort. They aren't finishing their checks, they turn like a bus, they swing their stick to make it look like they are going after the puck and the most effective play against them is the fake pass as they'll simply peel off. They give their opponents way too much time and space to cycle the puck.

I would think for a team as young as they are, with so many players fighting for spots and playing time, that effort wouldn't be difficult to get out of them. They aren't good enough to slack.

I have a friend I text during games. He used the word a lot of us have thrown around. Consistent. They showed up in TB and looked hungry for the puck (survived a 3rd period shelling, but were playing). At home, they looked lost. In Fla, they looked lost (partially some player swapping). It’s doing the right thing consistently and having that approach. You can see players trying to force some positive momentum (seeing Hronek tossed for attempting to fight at the end was a new one) but it was just a night of never “finding their game” or whatever pros call it. I know it’s going to happen in the course of 82 games, but it felt like they approached TB as “David vs. Goliath” and FL as “Goliath strikes back”. Except we know how that goes. I just shook my head all night. Treat this division like you’re the bottom team. When they prepare like they’re “punching up” they play better hockey.
