Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Squandered Lead and Spectacular Defeat After 20 minutes last night, the Canadiens were comfortably in the lead with a score of 4-0 and plenty of fans went to bed, thinking that the win was a foregone conclusion. When they got up though, they realized that the Habs squandered their lead allowing the Canucks back in the game and eventually losing 7-6 in overtime.

Expect more of those in the coming weeks/months. I expect they will drop slowly in the standings...most likely down to 27th in the league.

I guess we are starting to see, what we expected to see from them at the start of the season.

I'm on the fence with Monahan. Could be a good vet to keep on the team and they remain thin down the middle as we speak.

And that first would most likely be a very late one....

- deadpoulet

the way I see it...a potential 1st round pick for Monahan could be used to draft a goalie two are potential late 1st round pick.

I expect the Habs to use their own 1st round pick, hopefully close to top 5 to draft a center, this is a great year to draft one early.

I'm gonna side with chickenman in the previous thread.

Dropping a 4 nothing lead is disheartening for everyone, vets and kids included..

on another note, is it too soon to call out the trade for Barron a lost and maybe a big one?

still early but Lehkonen has been on fire since that trade for Colorado. Barron had a wide open shot at making this team, being a RHD. We almost never hear anything about him anymore...

yet he is the same age as Struble, who is still playing NCAA. He just turned 21, plays in the AHL, be patient with D's, they take time to develop most of the time. Look at tite graine from Toronto, finally made the team last year and he is 23, drafted 17th overall.

He's having an okay season in Laval, I don't think it's all lost considering he just turned 21...but yeah, in retrospect Hughes would probably ask for more now for Lehkonen, especially since he was still a RFA

Now, here's the question of the day...
With Monahan out, does Dach move off the front line to fill the 2nd line center hole? (Not code, perverts...) Do they dare to break up that 1st line chemistry?

If they do go that route, I'm hoping to see Slaf move up to the first line, especially against The Microplastic Menaces, the Savage Squiddies, the dreaded Seattle Kraken! (Especially with Wright playing tonight...)

Dach or Pitlick should move to centre I guess.

he's been playing hurt for a few games I think, he was wearing a boot in Calgary before the game.

Checking quickly the odds ( or payout ) pre game were 6.5 vs 1.59

then Spain had the ball 68% of the game, but coudnt mustard a goal...
