Hexy won't trade his few prime assets. He was never "all in" and has pretty much made that clear. It's just a hunch on my part, but I think he was told by new ownership to postpone the rebuild. One of the reasons it's "crickets" around here is Hextall is boxed in because he spent his spare dollars way too carelessly.

This! I think we use to have a forum that would throw a million and 1 trade ideas because JR may just pull one off. Now the most we will see is Hex making a basic and safe trade at the deadline. He is patient compared to JR. He also doesn't go all in he dips his toes into the water instead of cannon balling his way into making this team better. It's deflating sometimes as a fan to think if our team misses the playoffs it will be because Hex made way to many poor moves (all moves we in this forum all said were poor). Don't get me wrong, I tried to stick up for some of his moves and tried to "give him a chance".
I just feel Rutta was a bust of a move and we didn't really need his cap hit. Petry is finally starting to score, but he definitely wasn't all that was advertised when we got him (and I still feel we could have had them retain some salary). Kap should have been shopped instead of given his contract (I still think they should shop or Waiver him). The Carter extension was way to premature. Everyone also knew Dumo would regress. I'm glad we kept Pettersson and Zucker.
I see the rumor sites trying to get clicks by having us listed as a landing spot for Patrick Kane, but we all know that isn't going to happen. Maybe with JR it might, but with Hex we will probably see a prospect swap or something. Or much as stated above that we go all in and land a solid defenseman. I want us to be in on Puljujarvi, Dvorak, or Horvat (the ultimate all in). We know that none of these players are realistic.
We as fans know this is mostly our roster for the next years. Maybe a FA add here and there and a veteran add. Even the prospects aren't getting a huge shot to play with the big club sadly.
