Bill, what do you make of the Frost scratch and the constant playing of Macewen who was terrible in the Rangers game. This team is clearly not a playoff team, not sure why we are rolling out Mac and Nic D every night. Deslauries is probably the most irrelevant player on the ice every night, that contract in itself should be a fireable offense for Fletcher. I don’t think Frost has been good either but what’s the plan, 8th pick overall incoming. Should really help this dreadful franchise. |

I posted this on Twitter. Frost needs to play better BUT he also (in a bottom six role) had no fewer than five Grade A scoring chances -- two breakaways and three chances in the "home plate" area -- over a six-game stretch between the games vs Tampa through the game against Carolina.
I've never before seen a coach get peeved at a player over pucks that didn't go in the net. The message is usually, "Keep working for chances like those and they'll start going in."
As for Frost's overall defensive play -- which Rocky Thompson praised without prompting and then Torts ripped in the very same week -- the Flyers collectively spend way too much time in their own zone and give up too many shots/chances.
I thought that scratching Frost in his hometown with his dad in the building was a bit Keenan-esque.

Sure, benching Frost in Toronto was a Richard move by a spiteful old man, but when the team played so well without him you have to give Torts credit.
Oh wait, they lost the ES shot attempt battle 63-29.
Still, they got more offense from the bottom 9 forwards. Oh wait, it was just Farabee and TK providing offense at ES again.
But PP2 looked much better without Frost.... haha, just kidding. Only a senile dinosaur would have though a unit of Provorov, Allison, Bellows, Cates and Farabee would work. |

Yep! Definitely a bush league move by Torts. What happened to the "we're going to play the kids" concept? |

Yeah, Torts made a career out of riding hot goalies and getting just enough timely goal scoring, so he's frustrated that he's not getting enough of the latter right now. All those times when he's talking about "key moments" to downplay just how badly they're getting outplayed overall... he comes off as kind of delusional. So not surprised he's not happy with Frost just doing well with process and not scoring.

Yeah, all that only to dress Tanner and then not really play him either. |

I thought the same thing about the Frost healthy scratch in his home town with all his crew in attendance. |

They should just put ND, Seeler and Zack out on the PP to hit people and block shots, get those Torts analytics up. |

The Flyers hired an archaic coach. A perfect fit for the organization's archaic ways.

The scratching in the home town is an archaic approach that doesn't work in 2022. It will turn players off.

I agree with this…it’s not like Frost has had the opportunity to play with some of the teams better players for an extended period… I mean Farabee was atrocious his first few games with TK and Hayes, yet Torts let him get legs under him and he’s now playing better. I think everyone wants accountability but they also want to see a kid like this given a fair shot. |

That comment made me smile. In some instances he’s correct. He did follow it up by saying it’s how you view or the lenses you view it through that can make it a valuable tool. That is true. |

The day they hired Torts I picked Frost as his whipping boy. This doesn't surprise me. |

The comment made me laugh, especially since the Flyers boasted about how Chuck doubled the size of the analytics staff.
His follow up is accurate, I just didn't hear that part of it.

Frost is somewhat one dimensional at this point in his career. Torts is trying to get more out of him. At this point I think most would agree he’s been a another disappointing 1rst rounder. I believe they are just trying a different approach. I don’t necessarily agree with it. |

Rasmus Ristolainen's first 60 minutes of ice time this season.
You want offense to be red and defense to be blue, by the way.
