And it has to start with the top guys.

Sid has been coasting these last few. No hunger at all. Just going through the paces, turning it over and then skating off.

Multiple times tonight players just stopped expecting the other guy to get the loose puck.

That was a bad loss. Couple more of those and I don’t see how the owners won’t start looking for coaching changes.

Sully might be the safest coach in all of sports. Boston guy who just got another extension. Sully apparently was hanging out with John Henry in the summer. By all accounts, the love him.

The players however.... That's a different story. Everything I've read about the ownership group is they did something out of character with the signing of Letang and Malkin. They don't keep older players based on past glories. Plus, those past glories have absolutely no connection to them.

Hextall should have to answer for some of his contracts too. Carter, Kap and Rutta are big stains on his resume.

It's not time to panic, but they definitely need to make adjustments.

I doubt Sully will go. I could see a special teams shakeup though. Even though they were handed extensions just like Sully.

I could see Hexy getting the boot. FSG didn't hire him. If things go south, I could also see Geno and possibly Letang being offered in trades for sure.

It's too early, but there are some alarming trends.

The 4th line had 2 goals. Malkin literally jumped on the ice and got a tap in from McGinn after the 4th line sustained good zone time and did all the work. To call Malkins goal a “top six” goal is just false.

We have four guys who play defense on this team. Three of them were out last night. We need to score six goals to win. Or have Jarry stand on his head.

Sullivan isn't going anywhere and neither are Malkin or Letang. I could see Hextall being let go if this season were to go south, but it is far too early for that.

That being said, he is definitely a mixed bag. He's made some good trades and the Malkin, Letang, Rust and Rakell resigning's were not something I was expecting. Then there's Kapanen and Carter (awful), McGinn and Rutta (questionable).

72 games left to go though, too early for doom and gloom.

Problem is you need 4 players 35 yr + to carry the team for those 72 games into hte playoffs.

The Penguins core hasnt been able to hold leads even going back before Sullivan. It isnt a Sully creation, but their needs to be coaching to help minimize it. You cant lose 2 goal leads in the 3rd. Unacceptable.

This team already has the makings of a 2019-2021 Penguins team. Way too many passengers on the roster. Everyone here saw how bad Dumo was and yet Hextall didnt.

The good thing is POJ looked good last night.

Most of the team looked good last night... Dumo, Rutta and Jarry are who stand out as not looking good to me. Bruins are a great team on a roll.. Both teams scored 4 straight in the game and the B's took it in a game of 3 on 3 that looks very little like real hockey.

Also, with regards to the passengers 2019-2021 comment how is that true of last season when Sid was gone first month, Geno was gone until January and they were missing their whole top PP for almost 2 weeks?

Its like people expect the Pens to just dominate everyone for 60 mins straight or something. There isnt a single team in the league doing that so far. They played a good game last night, that they shouldn't of lost, but they played the Boston f'n Bruins, who came in 8-1-0 and had won 5 straight, not the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Pens statistically were the better team in pretty much every facet except the final score....and I know, that is ultimately all that matters today, I get that, but if the B's dont get a very fortunate bounce on their 3rd goal and Jarry is a little sharper we're talking about how they took down the 1st overall team in the league last night.

Safest Coach in all of sports is Mike Tomlin--speaking of another struggling Pittsburgh team.
What do guys like Dumo, McGinn, Kap etc have on the front office? The front office people cant possibly be so blind that they cant see how bad these guys are...
While its not time to panic yet, that time is closer than you think. The American Thanksgiving landmark is very close--but a playoff spot is not. And this losing streak has the chance to spiral out of control in a hurry.

Yea but McGinn couldn't tap the one in when he had a wide open net. It's like he had no clue the puck was ever coming.

You’re right. This 5 game losing streak rests solely on the shoulders of McGinn. A 11 minute player, and the situations that Malkin and McGinn both came about a tap in were exactly the same.

Never said that, but they most likely win if he puts that in. For me Kap and Mcginn would be my cap moves to make the bottom 6 better. Possibly Blueger as well, I wanna see him play this year before making that conclusion but he's pretty vanilla himself.

Can't wait to hear why that assist was unacceptable. Wonder if the hit on Dahlin was worthwhile also?

Yeah, pretty even. Both teams screwed up a lot of good chances, could easily be 3-3. And what was that by CDS at the buzzer?
