Just keep beating the teams that you should be beating.

A good test will be the back to back against tampa and cats.

Shots have improved compared to last season.
2021 first 3 games = 87 shots
2022 first 3 games = 117 shots
Hopefully this will be the trend, shoot the puck.

winning the "must win" games... hopefully we can build on the success.

love the line shuffles by Lambert last night. Moving Beau to Barzal wing made that line look much faster and better. The same with Wally to Brock line (obviously) and Parise to JGP line. I like Parise's game but he just doesn't have the wheels he used to.. he is perfect for that 3rd line.

Still early and the competition will get much better but Lane seems to understand offense and the need to change things up as needed and that you cannot just use the forwards to try to score.

It should be the trend. This was discussed during last night's broadcast that Barry's philosophy was to focus on higher percentage shots, whereas Lane's philosophy is more about just getting shots on goal. 3 games into the season is a little early, however, to reach any conclusions as to which is better.

Barry is a wonderful coach and especially for defense but his offensive philosophy was lousy. Barry had no answers when the Islanders struggled expect for playing Leo on the 1st line and he got insulted when Andrew Gross mentioned Palms was clicking with Barzal during the playoffs in a small sample size. Lane actually tried things last night and coached.

No question Cpt but Islanders are playing the right way and no longer playing a dinosaur offensive style.

Problem with the old mentality is that the Isles don't have the skill up front to get as many of those high-percentage shots. It worked for Trotz in Washington because there were some high-power offensive weapons. The volume-method may be more productive for the Isles, especially because they have decent size at forward.

Barry was too rigid with his system. You have to play the style that best fits the talent.

I thought about this as well. You can have a great plan or system but if you don’t have the right players to execute it won’t mean a thing. With this said Lambert will have to find a balance and play these guys to their strengths within their capabilities.

Wally may prove to have the best shot on the team. At least, he's off to a great start. I tend to agree with you, however, that among the forwards, outside of Wally and Nelly, there's not a wealth of talented snipers. So volume over quality probably makes sense.

I’ll have a better idea how they’re playing and if it’s the right way ten games in against some strong teams. Good to see them taking it to teams they should roll over but there’s going to be an adjustment period. Not sure they will get away with a lot of what they’re doing rt now with some other teams. Great to see it none the less but I think this team is a work in progress which is expected with a new coach.

They certainly haven't abandoned the strong defensive play. Three games in and they've allowed five total (non-empty-net) goals. Obviously two of the opponents were weak, but Florida only had two before they pulled the goalie at the end

Still too early to declare anything a success or failure, but so far so good

Agreed. Happy to see what we’ve seen but we have a long way to go imo… I think that Florida game was pretty disjointed for both teams. Two teams with new coaches along with it being the first regular season game. I don’t think we really have a great understanding of what this team is capable of under Lambert until the ten game mark. With that said it’s great to see them winning some games against teams they should beat need a good start this season.

No question there will be bumps along the way and especially against better teams. I think this style is the best though for the Islanders. Barry system took it's toll and it left very little room for error.

They also had a lot of success with Trotz’s system so I’m not sure which is best suited for the islanders. We’ll see hopefully this one is

Team had success no question and also a few things break very right as well.
There was a limit to the success and the team fell short of winning the Cup which is the goal. Could some offensive adjustments and lineup changes made the difference against Tampa in one of those series? We will never know. Tampa was the better team but I thought Barry was outcoached that last Tampa series.
