Why is it that every player that comes from another team gets hurt when he dons a Flyers uni(Tippett and Atkinson)? The Nucks are going to be pissssed after giving up that 3 goal lead the other night. This smells like a 6-1 clunker incoming. Wonder what the line is on the game? How long until Atkinson's status is changed from day to day to week to week? Inquiring minds want to know. FIRE CHUCK!

Been here since 8:30 this morning to beat the traffic and get work done while it's quiet. I cover every home game.

For an additional call up, who?

Zac, Ratcliffe or willman?

Also, Bill. Patrcik is ruled out for the year for Vegas. Undisclosed injury, but guessing it still deals with his head. Do you think he will ever really play again. Seems bleak for the kid.

I have a bad feeling about this game today. Hart is going to be under siege today.

Win or lose tonight, if they play every game like they did Thursday night, this will be a fun team to watch.

Rasmus Ristolainen.

I feel like this guy is in a lose/lose situation. The guy gets banged up in pre season, which happens. Now the team has a pretty good first game and he wasn’t apart of it. Should he return and the loses, even if it isn’t the team’s first loss, Ristolainen will get blamed for the team’s shortcomings. There are fans who hate this guy so much, fans who desperately want to be right about this guy to the point where they want losses at the expense of this player. I’ll say this, you don’t have to love or even like this player. You should be rooting for him to succeed so that the team plays well. I don’t think most of you are capable of putting these types of feelings aside.

Yes. My wife and I have a house in East Texas but I come up here all season (rent guest room at my sister's home) and takes trips home during long Flyers road trips plus over the holidays. Have been doing it that way since 2010.

I’d love for Risto to succeed, but I just don’t think he’s capable of being any better than a 3rd pairing player. He’s not a kid, he’s about to turn 28 and this will be his 10th NHL season.

Not sure why it is hard for some to accept he just isn’t very good. As you said, a 3rd dman role is what he would be better suited for to succeed.

I think every player is capable of adjusting. Some more than others of course and maybe Risto is one of those players who cannot. I look no further than Jay Bouwmeester’s career. All the potential in the world showing on bad Florida teams. After his trade to Calgary, his career takes a dump. He gets moved to St Louis and somehow becomes a legitimate shutdown Stanley cup winning defenseman. I’m not at all saying Risto is on a J-Bo but I do this players are capable of adjusting their games with maturity and in the right situations. Always keep an open mind.

Every player is capable of adjusting but I just don’t think Risto has much more to give. He’s not going to be offensive, if he stopped running around so much he’d be better positioned defensively. He still loses guys in front of the net despite being so big. there’s not much more there.

I'm going by memory, but didn't Risto miss the beginning of last season too because he got banged up in preseason?

You might be right but like I’ve been saying, I’m giving him this season under Torts. I'm interested in seeing how Risto responds and Torts assessment of Risto himself.

Things happen....but when things start to happen consistently then it's no longer things happen.

What do players do in the offseason that makes them so fragile nowadays?
