So Sutter discussed breaking the preseason into 3 parts. I imagine we are finishing up the 2nd? When should we expect more cuts?

Insightful as always Trevor.

Interesting point regarding Sutters' tendencies regarding critiques of players. Specifically no mention of Tyler Toffolis' obvious lack of conditioning.

In fairness Toffoli has never been known for his speed and there could be other factors.
However I have noticed a flippant and condescending attitude toward the media regarding players that for whatever reason are in Sutters' cross hairs.
Recently Sutter was asked if he was expecting big things from Jakob Pelletier at this years training camp.
His reply was one word..."NO."
Definitely not inspirational to a young kid who has worked hard and deserves a fair shot.

Hey man, I remember that interview where Sutter was asked about Pelletier. Seems like Sutter did not like how the question was framed. He brought the question up in a later interview. Pretty much said Pelletier is a heck of a player but needs to keep developing.

Remember last year Habs fans were pissed about the return they got for Toffoli... time will tell.

That’s a great question. Last preseason, we saw the team brought down to one group after game five. There were seven preseason games in total that year. Glenn Gawdin, Walker Duehr, and Jusso Valimaki were the final three to make it into the third part.

This time, we have two and a half groups after game four of eight.

I suppose the Flames can wait as long as possible to send any players down with no travel issues, but that third group is essentially out of the picture already.

Just a guess, but the group that went to Seattle practiced together again today. They’ll likely be going to Edmonton to play tomorrow.

Dube-Eakin-Milano
Pelletier-Ruzicka-Phillips
Schwindt-Zary-Klapka
Gallant-Jones-Duehr

Mackey-Meloche
Gilbert-DeSimone
Valimaki-Kuznetsov

This group may also go to Winnipeg on Oct. 5, allowing Group 2 to stay in Calgary. The big cuts probably made after that game.

Based on Sutters' attitude when dealing with the media it would seem that he does not like how a lot of questions are " framed."
Put kids like Pelletier and Phillips with some talented players and if they don't shine then tell me they need to keep "developing."

Kid looks pretty good. I wonder how much leash Toffoli has this year. He had a pretty long drought the last half of the season.
