Woof i just watched some highlights from game 2. Looks as though it should be marc staal on a pto as well. Yikes.

Seems a little much, but maybe seems like a steal by year three. They really believe Knight will be the guy here. Deal kicks in next year, not this, so there’s no need to freak out over combined goalies cap hit...yet. This says Zito will be finding a way to move Bob this summer. Bob here two more seasons at the very most.

It’s a good amount of money to give a guy who still needs to prove himself and become “the guy.”

The move signifies (to me) that they truly believe Knight will be the #1 - and want tht to happen sooner than later. I would guess this probably means there’s a deal close (or planned deal) to move Bob soon?

I still think Knight would benefit from more time in the AHL. But we’ll see what happens.

If he is still waiver exempt, they could do like last year, let him play in Charlotte and call him up for games when Bob needs a rest.

Gotta believe the plan is for him to take a split share of the crease this year after taking 32 games last year and they hope he takes it over full time next year then they either trade Bob at 50% retained to a cap floor team (5M per year at 50%, with a 10M per cap hit), or they buy him out for the last 2 years and save 3.33M per.

Salary cap is expected to start rising next year also. That gives Zito more space, and lessens the need to make a stupid trade to move Bob’s contract.

Can you imagine if Dallas loses Robertson because they gave Marchment too much money??? That would be wild.
