More than anything else I've heard so far, I think the best reason for optimism is Hughes and Pettersson in camp (and pre-camp) activities as Carol mentioned. If they can get a good start before the injuries start and depth is tested, it could be the all the difference (for playoffs).

The team changed very little in the key areas and I don't buy that the Boudreau bump in the later half will translate over a whole year. Additionally, moves made by several teams around and above us were more significantly positive.

With a gambling lens, I stand by my prediction that we end up very close to same record as last year. As a fan, I sure hope and can see a path for better. Key guys in the fold off the hop is primarily why ... now they just have to play up to their contracts!

Which teams improved more? Calgary and Edmonton are arguably worse. LA should be better, Vegas is definitely worse. WPG, ANA and SJ still stink

I think this team makes the playoffs. No Green, Petey and QH in camp... improved PK, more scoring, improved PP, young players improving. All this backed by Demko's reliable goal tending. I'm not predicting playoff success but anything can happen as we saw last time the Canucks made the playoffs.

Just curious, why do folks think EDM get worse?

Kane for a full year and they're at least trying a different goalie. Above all that, one more year experience for the best player in the world while still in their prime.

Defense is worse. Goaltending worse. Front end the same. They got a coach bump at the end of the season but that’ll go away and Kane will eventually fuck up again.

You think Vegas is 17+ points better without a goalie, no Patches, and a broken Mark Stone coming to camp? Ya, no.

I also think Vegas will be much better.

They still have amazing D, a lot of high-end forwards if they can stay healthy. I don't necessarily like Eichel, but if we're counting on bounceback years from many guys, no reason he can't have a big bounceback year first full one back from neck surgery.

They haven't been one to sit still (often to their detriment) so I don't think they'll let their goalie situation plummet too far. They've got Weber's contract now ... they always find a way.

They could win the division of finish last. I’m predicting they finish last in the NHL, which would make a lot of fans around the league happy

And yes, behind the Coyotes even.

🛀 🧂

Please explain how Vegas got better. Also how Van stayed the same lol

Canucks young core gains a year of experience while we replace chaisson and other scraps with The Russians and some skating and grit on the 4th line. Not to mention a better coach and back up goalie. GTFO Vegas chump

Thompson is a better goalie than Lehner. Patches missed most of last year anyway. Kessel in. Stone will be fine. Eichel healthy. Yeah they’ll be back in first.

Ah, yes, the guy with 20 games of experience, who has in those 20 games worse numbers than Lehner in Vegas, is better than Lehner. Right.

Patches had more goals (19 to 8) and had a +32 +/- differential while scoring 15 less points. Go Kessel.
