My preference? Neither.
We are in need of a period of observation and adjustment, IMO.

Either one would be a huge addition, but I’m going with Kane, due to the huge potential for both he and bread. WOW! That would be special.

We have to give to get, and since it will only be (most likely) a rental who do we wanna regret not keeping around later?

NO to JT Miller.

Kane is a YES, but only if he REALLY wants to come to NY and the return is draft picks or no players on the current NHL roster.

No Cuylie. He can become a beast. He looked good at training camp last year. Expect BIG things from him
- rrentz

At the end of the day, you have to give to get.

With the LW a complete log jam of Bread, LAF, Kreider, Goodrow, Othmann... Cuylle may have some difficulty here long term.

Sure, LAF will probably play RW however, its not his preferred position. Eventually LAF will take over as the LW for Zib, and Kreider will get bumped to the 3rd line.

Sure it will suck to see Cuylle go, but its absolutely insane to not trade for Patrick Kane because of him.

Well, the signing of Trochek all but ends any trade for JT Miller.

Bread doesnt play big to begin with, however having Patty there it will cause absolute havoc because defenses will be in a total whirlwind of who to defend.

A lot of the issues with Bread, as Ive mentioned, is his linemates pose no serious threat on their own. therefore defenses always leaned towards his side of the ice taking away his space and frustrating him.

Long time to go until the deadline

Most important thing is that they remain a good regular season team this coming season because a lot of the teams have improved in this conference

In the division, Flyers because of Torts and the Devils should definitely be better and then the Islanders, despite all the mocking they get will definitely be better.

And now you have Columbus adding Gaudreau.

We need Panarin to get his first 100 point season of his career next year. And worry about him stepping up in the playoffs later

Because without him being a top 10 player in the league we may not even get there

Alot can happen from now until the trade deadline. If we are close to, or in the Playoffs by then, I would aquire Kane for the Playoff run. More than likely Kane will test the UFA market next summer anyway, so Picks and Prospects is all I would send to Chicago. Don't want to give up too much for a rental player at the deadline. To make the salary fit, higher Picks may persuade Chicago to pay half of Kane's salary, as well as Drury would need to make other trades to shed salary.

Panarin has been a top 10 player twice in his career, the last time was 3 years ago. He needs to be himself, as does Zibby, Igor and CK20, its the rest of the team that needs to progress and improve. If the kids show improvement, another trip to the ECF is in the cards.

Completely disagree about the Islanders. They have added nobody of note, they have simply aged another year. Their top need to get a winger for Barzal has failed.
They are not a playoff team right now...

I really believe they got (frank)ed by COVID last year more than any other team and Sorokin is really good.

This is accurate. I’d also add that having Chara and Greene on the back end coupled with trotz’s love affair with both of them was a big part of our crap season along with what you mentioned. We were playing with not even an ahl line up for ten games and an ahl lineup for another ten. Our team set the standard for Covid protocols in the nhl last season. With that said who knows how the team will respond this season as presently constructed? Could go one way or the other…. Definitely not worried about Sorokin guy is fantastic.

If I was Lou, I would trade Barzal and sign Kadri. Barzals numbers are just not cutting it for 7 million bucks. Then what is he gonna get after that? 9 million? 😬

Guy is not worth that. Not even close. He had a garbage season along with the rest of the team but he’s got talent. Whether he puts it together or not remains to be seen but he needs some help up front and it’s becoming clearer that help is not coming. I would not trade him and for what Kadri is probably looking for he’s probably not worth it. Like the guy but he’s a 5.5/6 a year player and he’ll probably get 7-8 imo. Honestly could see Barzal bolting if this season goes to crap.

It really is on the kids to be productive. LAF Im not too worried about. However we really need KK, Chytil and Krav to be productive.

I worry about that third line again.

I want nothing to do with what it’s going to cost to get either one. We finally have some prospects and depth and it’s going to cost a decent amount to get either one.

Well then youll forever be that guy that never wants to do anything and would rather sit on his hands and complain about 'how close we got' and 'if only'.
