Didn’t like the pick at 10 … loved the pick @ 22…

Let’s see how this shakes out in a few… interested to see what we get in the 2nd …

Def like the 2nd - 2nd rounder... seems like a real find... and getting a big scorer from Red Deer can't but help... 52 goals is 52 goals.

Anaheim di some nice drafting over the past couple years. Should be back in the playoff hunt, pretty soon.

Connor Geekie would have been my choice at 10. Big playmaker 2nd line center. But getting a Defense man was important. Offensive dmen tend to take a little longer to develop. Kind of like Shea Theodore and Brandon Montor. Ducks are gonna have to be patient.

The 22nd pick was very weird to me. If you have 2 first round picks usually you can gamble a little with a high risk high reward type player. But the Ducks got and center who looks like another middle 6 foward. Now the draft isn't that deep. But Brad lambert was there. And a couple of Russian fowards too. But it's just a little bit to safe.
All in all that was a solid draft. One thing that could have happened that didn't was a trade. Either for a bad contract or a good player. Anything to help get the Ducks to the draft floor. And that's gonna be the biggest thing to fix come free agency. So normally just for the draft picks I'd give them a A- or B+. But they didn't do anything with the cap space or take any chances so I'm gonna say B- on these 2 draft days. In my opinion there where alot of options that the Ducks could have done. But they just took the safest road.

Draft was a B…

But what should’ve happened is trading for both Fiala & DaCat… and using every and all available picks & players to do so… it was and is an unbelievable miss by a rookie GM.

Can you imagine Z seeing what it took to get both and going well I guess they don’t care if I stay here…

2 snipers for peanuts… for a team that score to save its life… and their Ace setup center watches while his team diddles for some kids who may or may not pan out 5 hrs from now..

A complete Fck up by Verbeek.

Yep. Agree. It would have just ended up fast forwarding the pick It you got Debrincate or Dach, Fiala. And we're not going to be able to keep all these prospects anyways. So it would have been a smart move. But I think the Ducks would have to trade #10 pick to get it done. But I would have been OK with that. But everyone seems to feel differently about. So it's hard to say.

Gotta believe the tank is on for next year, too. I didn't mind the draft, if GMPV says that Mintyukov reminds him of Sergechev, well, I'll take his word for that. I really liked Gaucher at 22. What I think it means is the Sam Steel experiment is coming to an end. Plus, Zegras, McTavish, Lundestrom, and Gaucher are a nice mix of size and skill down the middle for a long time.
NOW, what the hell is GMPV going to do to get the Ducks to the cap floor? I've heard Manson is all but certain to re-sign, but unless they plan on giving him a one-year, $18 million deal, Verbeek is going to better be busy at the start of free agency. I still keep hearing Kevin Weekes throwing John Gibson's name around, too. If he goes that's even MORE money Verbeek will have to spend. This week will be interesting.

I heard the Ducks were in on DeBrincat but the Sens gave them the 8th pick and all the Ducks could give them was the 10th. Also, I've heard that he wants to go to free agency next year so trading that 10th for one year isn't smart. As for Fiala, Minnesota wanted a young D-man, who else do the Ducks have other than Drysdale that anyone would want? Kirby Dach isn't going to make Anaheim that much better, so I don't really care about that one. The Ducks just didn't have enough of what other teams needed to get DeBrincat or Fiala.

As someone who owns a box... I'm not down with a 5th straight yr of no playoffs.. what are we trying to be Sabres ???

So Fiala got a 1st and Faber... We could've and should've offered LaCombe or Thrun or Mahura or Helleson... Faber is a B prospetct.

Any of the aforementioned and # 22 with 56 gets Fiala done...

As for the Cat - Give the Sens 10 & 42 plus Tracey and call it a day...

Z would have made the Cat forget about FA.. the kid has a magnetic Charisma. Guaranteed DaCat gets 60 with Z feeding him apples.

I'd say we're more like the new jersey devils of the west.
I just can't figure out why. I know the Duck lost alot of money on Covid and the Rebuild. But they also got the expansion fee from Seattle. And we had a full year last year. Eventually the Samuelie's are just going to have to invest some money to get this money situation better again.
This is almost the exact same situation the Samueli's were in when there bought the Ducks from Disney. The Franchise was losing money and they bought the team. They got a new GM spent some money in free agency. And things turned around. I hope the Samueli's remember how they did that. Because there gonna need to do it again.

Would have had to use the #10 to beat the Kings offer. The 19th beats the 22nd. As for the player involved, LaCombe and Thrun are non-starters because Minnesota has no control over them. (Neither do the Ducks, which is why they went defense heavy in the draft). Mahura is an OK player, Helleson is an unknown. Faber plays in Minnesota's backyard, so they know what they're getting. But in order to beat the Kings offer GMPV needed to sweeten the deal to beat the higher draft pick LA offered.
