If only Holland could have gotten CHI to eat some cap (like the half it should have been), everyone would be fine with Keith playing out the final year. He is slower than molasses, but he does have a high hockey IQ and a good stick.

A week ago I would have said the same. The fact that we still don't have an answer is telling.

I bet he trades for an over priced vet and over pays in the trade. Then he has a press conference defending his actions by saying "did you expect me to get him for free"

Why would Keith pass up $5.5 million dollars for nine months work?

His cap hit is 5.5. His actually salary owed next season is only 1.5 mill. I still don’t see him giving that up.

Plus if he retires doesn't Chicago end up with a 3.5 recapture penalty? I can't imagine him wanting to stiff his old team like that. Unless that was a behind the scenes deal knowing he was probably gonna retire after 1 season here, hence why Chicago didn't eat any salary in the trade, knowing year 2 they were gonna be eating 3.5

Since this is likely towards the end of his career, no way he'd pass up $1.5M.

But to answer the question, they'd probably go into UFA and grab someone with two working legs for less money.

that 3.5 recapture penalty maybe the reason why Chicago didnt retain any salary as the retirement idea was already a possibility.
I do find it funny that on this write up we are told to ignore the stats behind Keith and trust our eyes, but the argument to keep Jesse is the opposite.

Poolparty is young and should still be improving, and uses up a fraction of the cap that Keith does, who is in rapid decline. But it is indeed odd how the stats and the eye test differ on both these players, and how different people perceive each player.

Only reason I see for Oil to be shopping Poolparty is if he simply doesn't fit in with the rest of the group personality wise, or if he and his agent are pissy that he got shuffled down the lineup at the year went on.

Lol. Ek says oil looking hard at Giroux and offering multi year deal. Also offering Campbell 6 mill per.

I believe it was "more than 6". Sounds like a Holland thing to do though, so who knows.

Hey Sean. Back to Pulj for a minute what do you think of this stat??

It’s tough to get around the fact that Puljujärvi has registered a point on only 47% of the 5v5 goals that the Oilers have scored with him on the ice in the past two seasons. Out of 333 forwards with over 1000 5v5 minutes played in that time, that ranks 329th, right behind Trevor Lewis and Jason Richardinson.

Kind of leans towards what I’ve been saying. He’s a play killer. Doesn’t contribute.

Bryan Marchment died. 53. Was in Montreal for the draft. Was he sick or something? No cause as of yet.
