Although I have less and less faith that any big moves are coming, I will hold out hopE they are and we will all have more to talk about then a ho hum coach hire and our GM doing nothing.

I'd like to apologize for the inactivity down in the comments. Had alot of work put into the Mock Draft I released a few weeks ago, and was ending the school year with all my students, and needed a bit of a break. I am back now, and I am super excited for the next few weeks of content here. Hope you all enjoy this one

I am starting to have some faith in the fact that it will be a busy off-season for Chevy. Lots of roumour surrounding Scheifele, Dubois, Wheeler and Dillon these last few days

Glad that the Jets hired someone with NHL head coaching experience. Didn't want to see some College or Junior or European coach coming in with zero experience. Hopefully, Bowness does not hire Huddy as an assistant.

There are a few rookie coaches I would've been happy taking a flyer on, but, you are right. I think the best move for the Jets was to go with a vet right now.

This is a good hire... thought he got jobbed in Dallas.

A two year deal for 5 million says to me that the Jets are prepaired to go rebuild after the Hellebyuck, Scheifele and Dubois window closes. I also have to love that Bowness is getting paid less than what Maurice would of made if he didn't sign with the Panthers. I'm sure Chipman was relieved that they signed Maurice.

Could be a very good fit, or may not be. Dallas struggled to score goals. Was that a roster or a coaching issue...we will see

Underwhelming hire, very.

Announced on the Friday of the long weekend after about 8 teams hired coaches…..this is what we are.

Not a destination for players or coaches if they have free will or control.

This is a yawn, now wait for two 36 year old PTO contract announcements and silence til game 1

Its a tough time to be a fan of the Jets. Disgruntled players and fans with less and less hope this team will have a bright future. Then they hire a coach that walked away from his team, not Maurice, and who has a pathetic winning percentage of .391. Spin it anyway you want but Bowness is still another coach that doesn't win, except in a bubble. I hope I'm wrong but it seems the Jets are following the Oilers who hire coaches with ties to the organization philosophy. How has that worked out?

He's probably a placeholder for the next 2 years until the Jets can see where they will be 24 months from now.

I like the hire.

I felt there were few appealing coaches and did not want to take a chance on a new comer at this time. Bowness satisfies Chipman's need for having a coach with a tie to the city which Bowness has but yet he has been away from the team for decades so no close ties to current personnel. He also knows the division... So yeah I was pleasantly surprised when Bowness was named.

I had no confidence in Tochett as was rumoured to be the next coach and little in anyone else after Trotz. I see Bowness as a good fit because he is respected around the league, has plenty of experience with many teams and is well-liked. Good for both veteran and rookie players. Bowness should provide stability and hopefully some semblance of defence rarely seen out side of 4 games against Edmonton a year ago.

I hope Bowness is given a chance by the fans.

This kind of sums up my thinking. I really feel like this roster needs a bit of a shake-up. I hope one (or both) of Scheif or Wheels are dealt.

Bowness made it seem like he was in agreement with the Stars to walk away. He didn't just leave like Maurice did. The winning percentage, as I mentioned in the article, means nothing. Nobody could've done any better in Ottawa, and his time with the Islanders wasn't great...but look at his numbers in the past 20 years, which he only coached 2 seasons and 2 half seasons. He did alright. The ties to the Jets orgnaization aren't as if they hire Huddy as the coach. He played here, and coached in the Jets 1.0 days. No personal connections to anything we all don't like about the organziation

Sorry Jacob, but as much as I like and respect your articles and insights I fear your wrong about Bowness and his connection with the Jets. Does he even have any discernable systems or winning philosophies that fit with the teams personnel? Was this .391 winning % coach hired mainly because he's known to Chipman and Chevy and a safe choice? Only time will tell.

I wonder if the 2 year deal leaves it open for Trotz to sign next year, if he's looking to coach again.
If things don't go well and they fire him, they're only on the hook for one more season which isn't too bad to stomach if Trotz is coming in long term.

I would expect this is the case. They obviously really wanted Trotz, and Trotz was down to Jets or nothing, so we will see where it goes for the next year or two.

I doubt Trotz will coach again. A job in upper management would be a good fit imo.

I was underwhelmed by the hire. I do think though that who Bowness chooses as assistant coaches should be telling. I am thinking that one of the assistant coaches that is hired is the guy that True North really wanted. Most likely want that coach to be mentored under Bowness for a year or two prior to taking the reigns.

Three trades that I think could benefit the Jets. Solely based off the rumours.

Number One:

To MTL: PLD

To WPG: Nik Suzuki

Number Two:

To DET: Blake Wheeler, CBJ 2022 3rd round pick

To WPG: Future Considerations

Number Three:

To CHI: Cole Perfetti, Brendan Dillon, 14th Overall Pick, 29th Overall Pick

To WPG: Alex Dubincat & Dylan Strome

Jets use extra cap space to sign Ryan Strome.

All 3 of those trades seem pretty balanced to me. It’s rare on HB where someone is proposing a trade where the other team gets fair value.

As a Habs fan, that's a big no on Suzuki straight up for Dubois. Suzuki is two years younger, has a *very slightly* better point per game ratio and is signed for the next 8 years, so all his best ones. Dubois is unisgned as of now and seems to get into trouble with coach and/or management about his usage.

I don't think adding to this deal (say a second rounder) makes it any better, unless you throw in a first and then we need to add more (a mid-tier "prospect", like Jesse Ylönen). And that's where you aren't willing to part with your first rounder and you don't care for Ylönen, so this deal falls through.

This was a very poor choice.
They managed to find a coach worse than Lowry. I say that only because Lowry has the excuse of inexperience.

Bowness is well below .500 in his career, and is the reason Dallas fell so fast.

Top line Luke Glendening time.
