My God if Ott were to trade 7th for any of those players it would be a catastrophic mistake worst than trading for duchenne or stone for nothing, none of those players are worth antopn10 pick in any way shape or form...

Sens might take a look at Tony D'angelo as a possible RHD. Carolina really likes him as a player and say he was really good in dressing room. But he might be too tight a squeeze for their cap situation.

It's called contend next season or lose their jobs....they want players that can play now, not in 3 years. Naturally, other aspects would be attached to any potential trade but those would be the key pieces going either way.

Not a bad option. Like Carolina, Vegas is cap strapped too, so the Sens will focus on teams that they can leverage their pick with to attain what they need now.

Like I've said before hockey writers or commentators need things to talk about or they lose their audience so it's trade trade trade trade trade trade - I don't care for who or how terrible for the team - just give me something to write about.

The bad part is that Dorion is a goof and may very well think that he needs to trade the 7OA or that he needs another top 4 D to go with his other top 4 D acquisition, Hamonic. He may feel that he needs to unload a pile of picks or prospects or players to get a top 6 forward and it has to happen right now. The echo chamber says so.

Its possible mactavish left for a more fullfilling, higher paid job ,who knows.

Phaneuf following around shannahan for 2 weeks, makes the sens want him? If true , we might as well abandon all hope on this team., who knows.

Mcarthur likely retired for peace and quiet away from hockey., who knows

If all goes well by the start of 2027 maybe 28 we will be watching hockey downtown

I'd be stunned if Dorion doesn't move the #7 pick for one of the 2 positions he wants to take care of. I don't see them trading for both positions without using that #7 pick. Nor will they be able to sign both positions through free agency.

100% wasn't a higher paying job, nor more fulfilling. Bottom line was, he couldn't take it any longer, working for the arrogant PD....many have used that word exact in the front office when it comes to PD!

As for Phaneuf, he has done other work, shadowing hockey ops with different teams, but that was his first taste of it, he 100% wants in an NHL front office.
Just take a look at Spezza, no experience but they have to start somewhere and Spezza is doing so now with the Leafs.

But the MacArthur thing was interesting as I had someone mention to me how he came and went so quietly but as per usual, the Sens didn't want to bring attention to the fact that someone else at the time left the team!

Vegas is in an elite class when it comes to looking at the cap. I have no idea how they will be able to dress a full roster on opening night. They are already over the cap with multiple players still to sign and they have a goaltender (Lehner) who sounds very unhappy.

Cassidy is the perfect coach for Lehner, which is why they fired DeBoer, there was no way he was coming back after the fiasco to end last season. Theodore I know is one name that Ottawa would give up a lot to acquire. But it will come down to if Vegas can get Reilly Smith signed and if they can move Karlsson. Lots of open ended things going on there in Vegas. Once different moves start to happen in Vegas, you will possibly see Ottawa pounce on what they want!

I will get into the Connor Brown stuff in my next blog as I hope to have more info by then and trust me.....Brady would be mighty pissed if Brown is moved for the wrong reasons!

What seems to escape people is that if they don't encounter the unreal depletion of their team due to injury or Covid that they experienced last year they will do much better even if they do nothing.

If Smith can be persuaded to move away from the likes of Zaitsev and Brannstrom and play Sanderson and Thomson instead the D will be vastly improved even with the learning curve. If you want to make a move get rid of friggin Zaitsev.

Forsberg should provide more stability in goal.

Realistically this team won't be in a position to seriously challenge for the Cup for a couple or three years so hold onto and develop your assets and keep acquiring more every chance you get. The other option is to go the Edmonton route when they drafted McDavid. Peter "Bold Moves" Chiarelli gave the city their two rounds of playoffs right away but they will never win a Cup and if that fool had not been hired and they would have done nothing and just draft the best players available they would have already won at least one Cup and we would be once again watching them in the finals.

Unfortunately Dorion just might think he needs to make a big splash or be crucified in the hockey media. I can actually hear 31 other GMs licking their chops.

The Sens already have their top guys. They need their Cirellis and Pauls and Browns and the only thing that they can think of is how fast can we get rid of all these guys and bring in a real "STAR". It's like when I was a little kid and everyone wanted to be Boom Boom Geoffrion or Bobby Hull because all little kids see are the goals.

I've been told a few things in regards to Brady. I got to a few things about Brady a month ago both in the blog and in the comment section.

This is a happy team. The players really do like each other and they appear to like the coaching. There is no doubt that Brady is the leader of this team. He is more important than any coach or GM. However, it is also important to note that most older players are never happy when they have to sit behind the kids that have been given the keys asylum.

This team needs to follow Brady. He is a warrior. If they don't win....

Its all quite possible and possibly not.
Theres been consistent turnover in hockey ops and office with this club, it can understanably lead to whats or who is the culprit.
Fullfilling can mean many things, to many people.
Spezza may quietly dissappear in a few years. It happens in all clubs. Or not and becomes the next guru.

Regarding your first three phrases, I can say this....the success of this team will be largely determined from the back end and naturally consistency in goal. So I am with you on the Zaitsev stuff while allowing Thomson to have a fulltime spot on the blueline, something many told me in the front office should've happened last year coming out of training camp/pre-season games, but one way deals stopped it from happening. The same cant happen this year and lets hope DJ realizes the way he handled many of the younger players out of the gate severely hampered Ottawa getting results on the ice, therefore more losses in the loss column, when he out thought himself and could've bagged more wins for the team due to line up decisions. If you know only knew the amount of times PM went to him and PD would step in and tell PM to stop!!! PD and DJ are connected at the hip, just look at how PD has listened to him on who to acquire etc....DJ has had carte blanche on personnel decisions, a rookie coach....to boot. This type of garbage would never happen with any other team, unless you had a coach that had a 10 year plus tenure!!

As I have told you before, this team wins due to the talent on this team and for the most part, many don't like him. That narrative needs to stop, otherwise Brady and Chabot wouldn't have been so damn angry with both DJ and PD in their exit interviews. Far too many times this team quit on their coach, then everyone says oh they rebounded well off bad outings but that was from pride and pure talent, not that they were playing hard for the coach, otherwise they wouldn't have had some of the no shows they had, had they had such great respect for DJ! In fact, there were times, where the players banded together and went at DJ for how treated certain players. I wrote about it in the blogs and in the comment section last season.

Just curious what would a trade for DeBrincat from the Blackhawks to Ottawa look like? What is Ottawa willing to give up?

Fair enough on Spezza, but Phaneuf still has his house here in Ottawa too, don't forget. Regardless, over the last 5 years, all the different coaches, scouts, hockey ops people that have come and gone, the one common denominator is PD! Enough said.

I'll be honest, Ottawa won't touch AD due to not having enough player control and they won't pay anyone more than Brady or Chabot, long term. A few on here have mused about Seth Jones more than AD.

But I'm sure many Sens fans in here could offer up a package. Curious to hear Sens fans thoughts.
