Top of the morning. Looking forward to the start of the SCF's...in part to get to the offseason, but hoping for a good series with the Av's preventing a TBL Threepeat.

Really hard to root for either team but with the Rags and Oil not being able to slay the giant, here we are.

Thanks for all the blogs while we wait for the offseason Theo.

I read article that the d UFA market is really bad. alot of good Forwards so that could hurt the market for Dcat, kane Teows, no idea how this off season will go but you have to think they would at least listen to offers on Murphy, Mcabb, C jones, stillman, Kalynuk and beaudin. be nice if we could get a reasonable return for maybe 1/2 those guys. 1 thing interesting is it shows beaudin has to pass thru waivers but kalynuk does not. depending on the return I would be open to trading all of them. I would like to see Galvas, mitchell, issac, vlasic and regula gets some time in the NHL.

Interesting SCH analysis of Borgstrom. Could he become the next David Kampf?

I am still scratching my on Vegas signing of the former Blackhawk first round Cassidy after the
"treated the younger players carppy" reports.

The Flyer organization seemed prehistoric with keeping Alain Vigneault and all his Cro-Magnon tactics and now Torts who thinks the lacrosse goal is showboating?

Well you have Chuck Fletcher as GM, not necessarily known for bold hires (Todd Richards, Mike Yeo and Bruce Boudreau in Minnesota), and Bobby Clarke is really running the show, who IMO is just a younger version of Don Cherry without the TV shtick.

Right wing Ryder Rolston, Brian's son is fast, but at draft age 5" 11" and 150.

He didn't get draft until his second year eligible by Colorado in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in the 5th round,139 overalll, saw his rights traded to Chicago at the trade deadline (April 12, 2021).
He was part of the USANDT.
Blackhawks Acquire Josh Richardinson, and his rights for Carl Soderberg (a Ans playoff bolster)
He is currently at Notre dame and listed at 6' 2". 185 lbs.

Her is my scouting report prior to that 2020 draft:
An elite skater Is too much of a perimeter player for a prospect with high caliber abilities. Waste time and effort in his possession unnecessarily playing laterally when more straight line approach would serve the offensive attack. Is a goal scorer with a fast stick and uses his wide base to grab loose pucks. Needs to keep his head up and work to help push pace more fully. Committed to Notre Dame University. His father is Brian Rolston fomer NHLer.

He has always been a good skater with really nice edging to his play while at centre or wing.
Fast pursuers are what they want, and StanBo got us this one...

also I am not going to state an opinion until Duncan Keith answers his GM Holland on whether he wants to stay for one more or not....

Nolan Allen is a really good all round skater better or equal to kaiser in my humble opinion.

I would imagine if Keith would retire, instead he would find some kind of ailment that would prevent him from being on the ice.

Maybe that tweet i posted yesterday is a message from the league telling the Oil to back off of Keith.

U r welcome!

I start getting anxious as the finals and draft get closer, and kinda one minded in my actions to get up the mock draft profiles (as many as can get now in the second on my way to the seventh) and just don't pull off the hockey thoughts, sandwiched around cooking all the dinners, taking at least on late after long swim and sleeping. I take these breaks to help restart the draft stuff. How many ways can yo phrase he has a quick release, ha!

I miss her here.

At least now I know what SCH is....

I shy away from most of these sites that popped up after the first Cup win, because of all the new found hockey experts...I prefer you guys....and that Tam Bamford (sp?) I would love his direct email - he makes crazy to respond to him.

We see if that works torts very good coach but has a tendency to run his players into the ground. One thing is for sure phily players will learn how to play defense and block shots. Something Philly as been lacking for long time.

Keith says he wants to play til his mid-40's. Given the contract he signed way back when, he probably has to pay substantial child support for several more years. I think his son is about 9 or 10.

The question is who's he going to play for after his contract expires. If he wants to stay close to home, it would have to be EDM, CGY, VAN or SEA. He'll probably have to settle for close to mimimum one year contracts like Chara has been doing.

Now Seravalli has a top 10 buyout list. Tyler Johnson is #7. Seravalli says the Hawks would save 3M in cash by buying him out. I guess if the Hawks expect a decline in ticket sales and revenue over the next few years every penny counts.

Hmmm. Probably have to take back Ristolainen, 5 more years at 5.1M, maybe JVR, 1 year at 7M. Hawks would have to add something. Rights to Strome and/or Kubalik? Torts will teach them to play defense.

One last draft thought before I get working. (ha, Work? -Maynard G Krebs

IF
no draft picks are added bt KD before the #38 I am thiiking they zero in at forward, and unless the board shows a head over heels better defenseman prospect, they go forward out of almost necessity, but.....
Since this is goalie prospect desert with only three goals looking promising to take in the early mid-rounds, what happens if the take a goalie at #38?

I know all the facts of taking one early but, in the past, they really have waited and reached at possibles later, and were frightened by the wasting of a early selection due to all the "factors."

I know Pat Boyle on NBCSports Chicago has already named Drew comes the future hawk starter and they only need transition goalies, but why not elect another early?
If Davidon has enough cahomes committed to taking the heat for each and every drop and sell off, taking a goalie here is mild heat.

and besides, reality says we are getting ten first rounders as teams like NJ Buffalo, and Arizona bow to submission and hand over their picks to us...

Thanks for posting, BM.......... One thing I'm really grateful for last season was King giving Borgstrom a real 20ish game look at center. I hoped they would and they did. Perfect chance to see what they had in the kid.

And the fancies in article as it does so many times backs up the eye test. Zeroing in on Borgstrom shifts you could see a Euro trained nicely balanced skater with multiple gears, good hands that is really positionally sound with his weight leaning to the D side of the puck in the Ozone. He always wants to be high in the attack zone (Dach is this way too to a lesser extent though).

But he just didn't put up points even when given looks in the top 6. And like Dach he just can't cheat positionally to add offense. It's either driven into these players thru coaching, is in their DNA or both to not cheat for offense.

If a Borgstrom could put up 30 pts he'd be a very useful NHL player as he has excellent size, skating and is a natural centerman. With his back class who knows maybe the switch goes off and the 24 yr old becomes a 45ish pt player but he's a sound player with good size and a fine defensive IQ today. ...... If he can do a Strome and get his lifetime FO above 41% that would help.
