Carol Schram: Odjick inducted into B.C. Sports Hall of Fame & Canucks trade-bait targets A celebratory night in Vancouver on Thursday as Gino Odjick, Kirk McLean and Robin Bawa were among the honorees at the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame induction gala. And J.T. Miller, Jason Richardinson and Tanner Pearson grab spots on Frank Seravalli's offseason trade-bait board.

Thanks Carol. A month away from a lot of action. Nighthawk told me it would fly by. It hasn't.

I believe Miller under 8.5M AAV stays. Anything over he goes.

Term is going to play a huge role. 8.5 and 4 years? I can see Ruthy agreeing to that. 8.5 and 8 years? Nah.

Chris Peters draft ranking. Talks to lots of scouts normally. Very good rankings I would say and that's even when he has 3 of my favs ranked way lower than I have them. Ostlund, Trikozov, Minten.

6 years at 8.5M has to be max i would say.

I've seen many want to give Bo 7 plus AAV on his next contract. Referencing to his 30 goal season like Kane getting 7m. I would say no to that. Maybe 6.5M x 8

I wrote a draft piece for my Flyers outlet yesterday, focusing on Cutter Gauthier and Marco Kasper.

Gauthier will probably be gone if the Canucks keep the 15th pick, but Kasper could be in range. Really smart kid, and mentioned the Canucks as one of his good interviews.

Yes

Kyper on Rutherford: He's going to make a splash here, he's going to change it up. He doesn't like the room. He thinks it's a country club in there. He's going to change it up... There's going to be a different look within 6 months

Shannon: Totally agree

Cool, I will give it a read. I agree Gauthier most likely gone. Kasper, I have at 21 in my personal rankings. He has that "going to be an NHLer" that VHG and I were talking about last blog in my opinion. I don't see him as a center but as a possible top 6 3rd wheel. The Burrows, Hyman types.

Yes my bad it’s crawling by lol

Hoping something like 6/8m gets it done. I’m thinking he’ll be very productive for 3 years with year 4 being solid. It’s the last 2 years that’ll be iffy & predicated on how the roster shapes up then. 2 line winger in the end should be adequate if all goes well.

I really like Gauthier a lil iffy on Kasper due to less of a good feel on him. Looking at D & if Mintyukov or Mateychuk fall to us. RHD preferred but probably wishful thinking.

Rutherford would just need to find him the right linemates as Dallas has for Pavelski and Wpg done for Wheeler to keep them productive longer.

That’s a very good ranking list imo.

I’m leery of a few that in our range due to skating issues. Geekie & McGroarty but if they figure it out they could be beasts. McGroarty especially. As usual I’m liking a possible trade down if they see a player fall they like or they target at the onset.

Totally agree. Miller has many skills that could help him age well.

I'm okay with this!

Shannon: He (Rutherford) knows it's broken...The 2 key dates for him are what he can do on the draft floor on the 7th with a couple of his star players and then what he wants to do in free agency. There's going to be a core of EP, Hughes, Demko, Bo and I'm not sure who else.

Ryan Chesley really piques my curiosity. A RHD trade down candidate or if Miller does get traded & gets us another 1st pick.

Skating can be addressed these days. I would still swing for some upside at 15 if they keep it.

John Shannon: I'll tell you what Bob, you talked about the word rebuild there. Nothing would surprise me with Jim Rutherford and Vancouver.

It's not a Rutherford team. He is also used to certain type of stars. Sounds like he may want to rush things though.

A highly technical assistant coach hire? Green for Walker's replacement?
