So far this postseason, the Rangers have played:
-Two backup goaltenders.
-Two third-string goaltenders.
-One starter with a busted foot.
Andrei Vasilevskiy will be of a different quality. |

A good take on the back-up goalie nonsense. - dashripdot
Guess it had nothing to do with Carolina only scoring 13 goals in 7 games |

Don't bring sound logic to the Ranger conspiracies on why they are winning. It is not the Penguins faults, Canes faults and now we get lucky against the Lightning.
Honestly the myopic conspiracy blog writers are pure clowns. |

It's a team sport and the reason each team has a roster of more players than it might use in a game or series is because the team needs more than a few individuals. And when a team wins the Cup, the league engraves the names of the team members on it. |

And a “back up” for Colorado pitched a shutout against Edmonton yesterday. Guess that doesn’t count since it doesn’t support the narrative |

It not the Rangers fault they played two back ups!! They didnt choose it!! Its life in sports! Injuries happen!! They still had to win those games!! |

You guys have a real chip on your shoulder about this stuff....
I guess Francouz and his 55 starts the past two seasons and Domingue and his 3 starts in same time frame are equal for some narratives, right? |

The Rangers are playing great hockey but are you saying that playing backups and AHL starters the first two rounds of the playoffs is somehow not advantageous and is some kind of narrative? Colorado winning with a backup proves that? |

To be fair many writers specificially mentioned that the step-up in goalie quality would be an issue for the Rangers heading into the Conference finals. They also said that Tampa would steam roll after having 9 days off.
Following the win they were like: "LOL Guess the Lightning and Vasilevskiy are just rusty" |

So it’s just because you’re the rangers? That’s pretty delusional. If the roles were reversed I wouldn’t give two craps really what other teams fans think. I would consider the islanders fortunate to be in the situation to begin with between the goalies being out and Point. It’s about as lucky as you can get in the playoffs but to say this is some kind of league wide conspiracy or narrative to not give the rangers credit is laughable. |

I just want to say Jim that all sorts of negative things were said about why the Pens won cups when they did during the runs....Bettman, the refs, no Stamkos in 2016 ECF, etc but I can no longer remember most of the details of all that crap...but totally remember the details of the good times and highs from those runs, and of course the sweet, sweet ends of them.

Well the Avs played against Ville Husso after Binnington got hurt and nobody talks about it.
Avs we’re 1-1 against Binnington and then won 3 of 4 against Husso to take the series. |

thanks for bringing him up
because the last time we played Tampa in the ECF in 2015, we didn't have Zuccarello, and it was barely mentioned
I think Tampa has spend millions on billboards reminding people

It's an overplayed narrative and it's getting stupid. So yea, the chip is developing as a result.
The Rangers did not play all that great against the Penguins. However, I will say Domingue held his own in a lot of spots and earned more consideration.
The Rangers played much better from Game 3 on against the Canes. And for anyone to say Raanta did not hold the Canes in it in some of the games, showing up to play as well as most goalies in the playoffs, are fooling themselves and continuing the overplayed narrative that the Rangers got lucky.
How else does a player prove themselves, but getting chances to play and proving their worth. Domingue, Raanta and now Francouz are all doing that. Just because the experience isn't always there, does NOT always mean they are not the better option. That's how it has always worked when players usurp others for starting positions. Hell Shesty did that to Lundqvist. |

And I mean look at all the sh!t being said about Tampa's cups hahah...the covid bubble cup needs an asterisk and the over the cap cup last year needs an asterisk. I dont agree with either of those needing asterisks and I guarantee you the fans, while maybe caring what others were saying at the time, no longer give a sh!t about it haha. They are etched into Lord Stanley for eternity. |
