Kevin Allen: Draft analyst says there's logic in Devils dealing No. 2 draft pick If the Devils keep the pick, Slafkovsky seems like the right pick.

Watched Adam Creighton play as an Ottawa 67. Big tall lanky kid, and always one move too many. He shoulda shot more.

Faceoffs are insignificant most of the time. It's one puck battle in a game sequence of many contested puck battles. Faceoffs become substantially more valuable in circumstances like ST when possession is most established.

No Laval vs. Springfield tee up for tomorrow night?? Springfield is a very experienced team with a deeper roster, it's going to be tough sledding.

Scott Maxwell of Leafsnation did an article last year on his study of the importance of faceoffs using a methodology that Eric Tulsky devised about 10 years ago. His conclusion was that faceoffs have almost no correlation to winning. Using the same process, Maxwell found that there was no correlation between faceoffs and a team’s possession ability. Good possession teams will find ways to get the puck on a play whether they win a faceoff or not. None of that diminishes your point about the importance of ST faceoffs or faceoffs late in a game trying to get the equalizer or protecting a lead.
