Carol Schram: Canucks ink Linus Karlsson to ELC; Alex Chiasson would like to return As expected, the Vancouver Canucks announced on Thursday that they've signed Linus Karlsson to a two-year entry-level contract. And word came out this week that impending UFA Alex Chiasson would like to re-sign with the Canucks for next season if possible.

Not a fan of AC but if it’s a league minimum contract and they don’t have anyone else to fill the position… sure. But I wouldn’t make his signing a priority.

Chaisson gets fat when he gets a contract before October 1. Gotta keep him cheap and lean with a PTO.

Don't see Chiasson coming back... Rutherford talked about getting faster, that's not the case with him. Think they'll bring some youth up, or give some younger higher upside UFAs a shot.

For $1.15 or less it’s only a contract spot. At this point, the team has so few prospects that they would need to sign I doubt the 50 contract limit is a real challenge.

I'd be okay with Chiasson coming back as long as it's for super cheap. If he gets beat out he's a guy you don't have to feel guilty about sticking in the press box or the minors for weeks at a time. He brings noticable size which the Canucks are still lacking in a bit as a team.

Kinda breaking news here but hearing reports Coleman has signed a PTO with the Calgary Stampeders for the open kicker position. If he gets one through the uprights it will probably count.
