Carol Schram: As fans wait for update on Boudreau's status, Barry Trotz becomes available Bruce Boudreau has until June 1 to let the Vancouver Canucks know whether he wants to return to coach the last season of his current contract. Does Barry Trotz's sudden firing on Long Island change anything? Also, the Canucks will take part in Tuesday's draft lottery.

Thanks Carol.

Waking up and thinking about Barry Trotz, sounds like you might have a crush on him.😁

As much as I like Boudreau in his press conferences, Barry Trotz is what this team needs.

Thanks Carol.

Great reminder about the draft lotto. I didn't even realize it was already the 9th.

Moving up would be spectacular.

Unrelated to your DP but I have seen Jiricek moving ahead of Nemec in many of the online scouts. Citing a higher ceiling than Nemec seems to be reason why.

It's a real coin toss who goes first for me as long one of them is available when Van is picking 5th

Thanks Carol! couple interesting prospects at 15, moving up and snagging Nemec or Jiricek would be a game changer for the team.

Friedman - I think the Canucks are trying to find a market for OEL but he does have control.

More and more prospects are going to come through and make decisions difficult for Allvin.

Hoping we can land this Russian kid! Hope he liked Pods haha - could be a dadonov type guy for us. 20 goals + 50 points would be a nice free find!

It makes sense, but I mean...that CAP. I guess we could retain another 1M a year...brining it down to 6.250 for the acquiring team. More reasonable?

Yup. Boudreau was a refreshing change from Green but Trotz would bring structure and defense.

if you’re taking about Rathbone, then yes, it’s going to be difficult deciding which team to trade him to with OEL lol.

Answer to that is pretty easy. The Flyers. That Hextall rebuild was/is still looking spectacular, they are just missing some vets.

I bet Flyers even signed Virtanen so we can all "eat our words"

If you can get rid of hamonic without retaining anything or a sweetener, it's certainly possible to do the same with OEL.

I think that’d still be hard for teams to swallow. He’s just not that caliber of player any longer.

Looking at the list of available UFAs this year, there aren't many great names for D. Klingberg at the top, Manson, Miller, Zadorov... all those players are going to get 4-7 year deals? Hypothetically, not that I want the Canucks to do this, but say they retain 2 mil on OEL, does getting him for 5 years at 5.25 seem palatable for a team? Don't think the Canucks would need to add any sweetners for that.

Not including Gio or Letang in this as they're older.
